Description: The third restaurant to be opened by acclaimed chef brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin, La Chapelle has been consistently praised, winning no less than 8 top restaurant awards in its first year, including AA London Restaurant of the Year, and Tatler magazine's Restaurant of the Year. Chef Patron, Jeff Galvin, provides a menu of modern French cuisine, gaining a Michelin star in the 2011 Red Guide, just a year after the restaurant opened. There is also a menu gourmand, prix fixe lunch, early dinner menu, and Sunday Roast lunch menu. The service, under the direction of Alessandro Piombino and his team, effortlessly combines warm, friendly and attentive hospitality with a fine sense of tradition and decorum, in keeping with the grandeur of this Grade II-listed building. The restaurant is one of the few restaurants in London to hold a vertical list of Hermitage La Chapelle wines.

“Fantastic Restaurant; Let Down By The Smallest Details”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

Great venue, spectacular in fact. It was a Saturday night when we went and although a late booking we were able to get a reservation at around our preferred time and sat at a lovely table.

Service on the whole is great although found the Sommelier a tad arrogant and a bit dismissive when I actually chose my own wine. The wine list is extensive in both country, region and price and should cater for anyone.

The menu was a delight to choose from. The signature Crab Lasagne was amazing, light and flavoursome. For main Chateaubriand that we shared was incredible although the carrots that accompanied it were either overdone or underdone: poor show really!

We did not have dessert but the Cheese Board looked amazing!

All in all a great restaurant but for the price the little things mentioned did let it down slightly. I would also have been disappointed had we not asked for (when reserving out table) a 'nice' table as the normal table for two looked tightly packed together and small; so if going as a couple ask for a round table!

“For an odd reason it's not trendy, but the food is knock out”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

I have liked their place on Baker Street for years. La Chapelle in Spitalfields is so stylish, the service excellent and the food exceptional. Their 3 course set menu in the evening is good value, despite the higher price. In my view, some of the truly best food you can have in London.

“You could spoil yourself”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

Eight of us attended Galvin la Chapelle on the 22nd December. Each of us thought it was a top five meal of our lives. It becomes impossible to say which meal is the best etc but you KNOW when something is special. This was. I had the crab lasagne. Pure brilliance. I tasted the cauliflower velouté with scallops. Pure brilliance. The roasted chateaubriand was simply beautiful and still pure brilliance, A gorgeous Vouvrey Fizz to whet the appetite, a sublime (beginning to run out of superlatives) Italian Gewertztraminer with starters and the sommelier directed us to a fabulous red for the main. I could go on... It was that good. Very good as a venue. An excellent restaurant. Thank you front and back of house. Great start to Christmas.

“Nearly delicious”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

Yes, the building is wonderful, and the service was delightful. Nice explanations, friendly staff.
But it is ultimately about the food, and for me for the money there has to be that X factor where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. The 'wow this is what I've been looking for' taste, without really knowing what I've been looking for. The 7 course menu with a 'flight' of wines looks imaginative, daring. But just doesn't quite hit the mark. Nearly, but not quite.

“Stunning setting, wonderful food”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

Visited La Chapelle as a group of around 10 for a networking lunch. We arrived a little late and not all at once, so could have caused some irritation for the kitchen and waiting staff but nothing seemed too much trouble. Couldn't fault anything really, the food was excellent, service spot on and whole experience quite lovely. Would return again, although perhaps a more intimate affair next time might be nice to allow for soaking up the surroundings.
