Amazing restaurant. Staff superb and good sublime. Great selection of sharing courses. We shared both starters and mains. The veal chop was the best in London.

“Seriously good food”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

Dined here last week with 3 others. Food was absolutely delicious. Not a massive fan of in the middle sharing type platters, and it's not something I've seen before for a French restaurant, but that wasn't a big deal.

Had the green beans with Fois Grais, beef and tuna Carpaccio, the Rib Eye which was cooked perfectly, and the Veal - all highly recommended.

Would definitely come back again.

“O.K”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

La Petite Maison. has alway been one of my look forward restaurants to visit, I have been going since they opened. Somehow the food on my last visit seemed tired, the salad dressings, not special. The lemon chicken was certainly not as I remember it, it was so smothered in lemon it was hard to taste the chicken. We had 2 starters 2 main courses, no dessert, 2 glasses of wine.

“Ghastly Service Mars Dream Chicken and Lamb”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Think Bocuse. Think Koffman. Think KFC. La Petite Maison is close to the first, beats the second, but comes so far behind in terms of ghastly service that you would rather dine at the third , unless you are a sado-masochick.

. You have to pre-order the whole chicken cooked with foie gras and the lamb leg. We gave their appalling service the benefit of the doubt by visiting twice.

On the first occasion, after waiting an aeon for anyone to ask if we wanted water or a drink, and then the menu for appetisers , and then take our order - I mean 30 minutes - they forgot to tell us that starters are served " family style". Family style in our experience usually means big portions shared. Not here. Loosely translated it means " can't be bothered" or " hit your mother-in-law over the head" . I sat with my ( admittedly delicious) spicy fried callamari waiting for my partner to be served his starter - and sat and sat as my calamari chilled. Finally the maitre d came over to explain that family style means they serve starters onlly as they are prepared and arrive - Diners eat alone.

They were apologetic about not having warned us, and the rest of the meal was so excellent - the whole chicken- that we decided to revisit in a party of six.

For our second time, we pre ordered two chickens and one lamb leg. They called several times to say it was too much - but in fact we were pleased with the quantity They actually allow take away. We breezed through the family style starters - interestingly the waitress didn't warn the table again. And then ... We waited. We waited. And waited and waited. We waited one hour, such that at 1130pm they came round to tell us that the kitchen was closing. This was after pre-ordering the mains a month before, and them calling us at least three times to check.

Finally the mains came - wonderful - earthshatteringly tender lamb that tastes more succulent than the barbecued pork of Kansas. Dreamy chickens ,lovely fries and veg.

That took us to 1210am, when we were given our dessert menus. We asked for liqueurs - The Bar is closed, they said. Wait, we remonstrated. You delayed our mains by more than one hour and now you won't serve us dessert wines or liqueurs?

The maitre d came over - the guy with the beard. He was less than apologetic - inferring that we should have ordered pur wines and liqueurs as the delayed chicken was hitting our table.

We left without dessert. We should have taken off the service charge but I forgot.

So sadly, it is back to Pierre Koffman and KFC. At least at Koffman you can bring your own wine, with corkage. I'm not sure about KFC.

“Homely French Cooking at it's best”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

La peitie maison was a lovely surprise this week. We were invited by friends to celebrate a birthday. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. The custom of sharing all courses ensures that everyone has broad culinary experience. The sign of a great restaurant is one where new tastes and textures are enjoyed. La petite maison did not disappoint. The best mozzarella I have ever tasted, plus lentil salad, courgette flowers and snails are all worthy of mention. The main courses were equally enjoyable: spatchcock chicken, tiger prawns, lamb cutlets and turbot. The oversized desserts, especially the creme brulee were a fantastic finish. Good value for this quality.
