“Great place”
Reviewed August 28, 2011

We stayed in the Windmill Bar for one night for a trip to Wembley. We arrived early to get the last parking space.....only room for about 7 - 8 cars. We sat outside and waited to check in. They arranged for our room to be cleaned so we could check in early. Our room was clean and tidy and looked as though it had recently been painted and new furniture put into the room. The bathroom was small, but adequate for our nights stay. Hot shower, with hair dryer and a small table area in the room with tea and coffee. After we checked in we went straight to Kilburn tube station and took the train about 4 stops down to Wembley Park and were greeted with the amazing view looking down Wembley Way and onto the stadium. Unfortunately we lost the Challenge Cup final but had a great stay. Quick ride back to Cricklewood and the hotel and then out for some dinner. Choice of Persian, Lebanese, Indian or even Abyssinian......then back to the Windmill Bar for a drink before bed. Bed was comfy only complaint was the noise from the main road was really loud ALL night. I would recommend ear plugs! I thought the windows were open at one point. We got up for breakfast and were greeted by a great choice of tea, coffee, cereal, cold meat & cheese as well as yogurt and croissant. Choice of full English, veg full English or egg variations! The staff were really helpful and polite. All-in-all a great stay, shame about the rugby result, but you can't have everything. Just don't forget your earplugs! ;0)

Room Tip: Room away from the road

Not sure I should write this….. I really should keep quiet…... Why would I want the world to know what a fantastic place this is?..... Because the staff and owners deserve it! Everything positive I had read on Trip Advisor was true!
Immaculate clean rooms, with crisp white sheets fit for a four star hotel. Everything you want – kettle, coffee, hairdryer, free wi-fi (why did I leave the laptop at the office - could have worked till midnight!) real furniture (unlike most Trveldges). Plants in the corridor end giving an attractive air to the place. Feels like a boutique hotel. Cheerful friendly staff, bright coloured walls on the entrance and staircase immediately make you feel positive. Breakfast ready to go before time and super freshly-cooked breakfast. All for a low price. I expect to find the place booked months in advance. So what do I regret – not arriving early enough to drink in the bar and eat the food there – the bar looked great and if breakfast was that good, the evening meals are probably better. If they are not then the hotel is surrounded by some pretty fine looking Persian and Middle-Eastern restaurants.
I’ll be back, but I hope to have to compete for space, because these guys really do deserve to succeed.
A downside – well it is a ten minute walk from Kilburn underground up a hill – hey stop grumbling - the calories justify that breakfast!

We stayed at this hotel for an England football game at Wembley - it was a ten minute walk to Kilburn tube station and easy access up the Jubilee line from there. The hotel was clean, really comfortable and the pub itself was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was lovely! Lots of variety and even a fry up, which was a nice surprise! The beer garden is great and looks fantastic at night - we even enjoyed a game of scrabble out there - an odd thing to do on a saturday night, but the board was out on the bar so we thought why not?! There is not that much to do in the immediate area but it's a good cheap base, the area is not bad for london suburbs and there is also a wetherspoons over the road for another drinking option. Great chinese buffet just past Kilburn station as well - only £8!

Room Tip: Room 109 overlooks car park and is very quiet

Ive stayed at this guesthouse on about five occasions and have always found it clean, friendly staff and nice rooms. I srayed here recently with my dad and got a really good rate so we had two rooms both were very spacious clean and had all neccessary facilities. Ive never had the breakfast here as i tend to eat on the Broadway or Kilburn High Road which is only five minutes away. I like staying here when i visit North West London. They also have another guesthouse called the Blacklion on Kilburn High Road which i have decided to stay at in May when i return from Holiday and have a stopover in London so i will let you know of my experience. But all in all i would definately recommend the Windmill.

Stayed here because we have local friends that couldn't put us up, I was looking for cheap and cheerful and that's what I got.

Very friendly staff, great breakfast, good value - everything we could have wanted.

Its on a very busy road so if you are a light sleeper try and get a room at the back! The room was small but comfortable, very clean with a comfortable bed, warm, good shower (tiny bathroom with no towel rails though), breakfast had a good selection with the cooked being more than adequate.

We had a car so made use of the car park, however there is only room for about 5 cars so the earlier you get there the better.

We checked in at 1pm and were out for the whole day, the bar was still open when we got back at 12.30am but we headed for bed, didn't hear any noise from the bar or road (being at the back) but could hear doors slamming and occasional chit-chat.

All in all a great over night stay!

Very clean guest house! room was very spacious. The staff were very helpful, the lady on the reception helped to plan our bus/tube journey to the venue we needed. The pub decor is very nice and the garden for smokers has heaters and a very nice area to drink and watch tv. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and a lovely English breakfast if you wanted it. On the whole a very enjoyable stay - would definitely stay again on a next trip to London.
Loved it!

We had a disappointing stay in this B/B. It was short staffed , the same girl did reception. served meals and "cleaned". The "cook" was irate because we arrived for breakfast at 8 50am, and we felt the breakfast was poorly prepared & presented. We eat in the bar! which was grubby as was the whole building.
The bedrooms looked good on the photos but in reality were misleading , curtains were falling off the windows, the room was draughty, and the noise terrible, we had to keep the bathroom fan on to drown out the noise coming from outside.
Also the credit card machine would not work at the weekend and the girl asked us to settle our bill straight after breakfast in case we did a "runner". Luckily it worked Monday am.
We would not be hard to please , but we expect value for money and" respect"when we use accommodation away from home. We would like to warn other people to not fall into the same trap as us.
