“A chic riverside retreat”
Reviewed February 27, 2010

We took a family weekend break to London. Having travelled extensively globally, I was intrigued to see how this new hotel measured up. Wow! - The interior deisgn was incredibly tasteful and chic. The restaurant and bar has a fanastic ambience , great food and most of all fantastic river views. Service feels very personal and staff are attentive. The rooms are very spacious with state of the art technology.

We will be back!

Was in London for a brief visit and was looking for a modern boutique hotel in a similar vein to those in our management portfolio in the US.
The Rafayel Hotel has recently opened on Lombard Road, Battersee and has been conceived and built in an highly environmentally sensitive manner. It is well done, with superior attention to detail and quality fittings ... and carries their sustainable features throughout the operation, to the extent of filtering their own still and sparkling water in re-usable glass bottles.
The location is reasonably convenient to much of London and will be particularly desirable during summer months with their river frontage and patio restaurant seating, as well as event areas with sweeping water views.
In room technology is particularly impressive with LED lighting and a media hub for entertainment and work related connectivity to the flat screen LCD TVs. Only improvement opportunity ... HSIA which isn't ... download and upload speeds are poor. With the technology base of the hotel, should be an easy fix ...

Hospitable, great view of the sunrise and an uncrowded spa to relax in – and all for just 120 pounds a night. Very happy.

This hotel is chic to the extent that you want to pull out a notebook and jot down all the interior design ideas. From the beautiful colour schemes to the random ornaments placed throughout, the layout and decoration of Rafayel on the left bank has been thought out in great detail. Arriving here you cannot help but feel just a little bit pleased/fashionable all at once, and we were not disappointed!

The communal areas are relaxed, and it is nice to see a hotel that has abandoned the minimalist obsession. The overall effect is more akin to ‘beautiful home', as the hotel is incredibly modern, yet you will find beautiful cushions on chairs, vases of fresh flowers in the hallways and bouncy carpets that will make you want to remove your shoes! There is a lovely cupcake shop in the lobby which instantly won me over, and my first impressions of ‘boutique’ - despite never staying in a similar establishment before was ‘wow” this is excellent. There is a real injection of personality.

The room that we stayed in was beautiful, overlooking the river and sizable to the extent that I have not come across at all, let alone in London. I have stayed in Spanish holiday apartments which have been smaller - and then you are additionally treated to a high ceiling spacious bathroom. The shower was impressive, and the deep Jacuzzi bath makes you want to factor in just a little bit more hotel time!

The staff were all incredibly attentive and the hotel certainly felt established beyond its short life. On the Saturday night we witnessed an incredible number of diners arriving at the restaurant, which created an appropriate and upbeat weekend vibe. The bar area looks over the restaurant and the river, and proved to be a good placed to relax both pre and post night out.

All in all, the experience felt like a real treat. This is a great place to come with a partner or even a friend. I would feel incredibly lucky if I were to stay at this hotel for work purposes, which we did see as well. This hotel is in a great location, and incredible value for what you get in return. I highly recommend!

stayed here for 2 nights last week,a room in the 200s.
very clean and staff polite but there was something missing we felt.
the bar was closed on the saturday afternoon for a private party so no access there, the free shuttle to Sloane Square wasnt working either.
you feel that you are stuck in the middle of nowhere,a taxi driver refused to take us back here from the city one night "as it was out in the sticks"
we spent a fortune on cabs as there is nothing of any merit to see anywhere close by.
no full length mirror in the room for the ladies,no hot water just luke warm, shower hard to operate, rooms small and views average.
when there is a half full skip leading to reception you know that its a soft opening!
we paid £240 for 2 nights room only ,half price virtually. quite satisfied but the tone of this review would be doubly damning if wed paid full whack.

I stayed at the hotel with my partner and parents, and all of us were blown away by the size and quality of the rooms. My girlfriend and are both involved in design professionally, and we were impressed by the contemporary style and attention to detail. My parents have travelled fairly extensively, and have never had such a large and well appointed suite. The food at the restaurant ( particulary the biryani) was excellent, and the service was freindly without being intrusive. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a massage treatment at the spa, and were impressed by the polite and knowledgeable staff.
When compared to hotels of a similar price bracket and even those more expensive, the Hotel Rafayel stands out a mile.

I recently stayed at the Rafayel hotel and would highly recommend it. The prices are excellent value and the facilities are world class. The hotel is the ideal size, just 65 rooms so consequently it has a nice ambiance which is relaxed and informal. Every fixture, fitting and detail seemed to have been constructed with quality in mind.

The restaurant was also superb and the cuisine outstanding with mouth watering dishes at reasonable prices. Views across the Thames were fantastic.

It was a real challenge to find a hotel within this price range offering this kind of quality. I will certainly visit in the future and a big thank you to all the staff for their professional service.
