This place looks very unassuming from the outside but it is fascinating on the interior. There is lots of history in this little tower. We couldn't get a ticket for Parliament tour so came here. We were glad we did. It is a good value for the money as well. If someone has trouble walking this would not be the tour for them. Any one who has trouble with tight spaces might stay away as well ( stairs) but for the rest go and learn how the wealthy lived in the 13th Century.

This is the oldest remaining structure of the original Palace of Westminster. The current exhibition is interesting and covers what the tower has been used for throughout it's history. A visit will take however long it takes to read the information boards.

There are two floors to look round which are non accessible to anyone that cannot climb steep stairways.

Gift shop & refreshments are on the ground floor. The staff were polite & friendly.

Well worth a visit and it's a nice tranquil place to be away from the other busy attractions.

Our visit was on 3rd August, 2013.

This is a small little museum where some royalty used to keep there jewels and treasures. It is not a very big place. In fact I would be surprised if you spent more than 45 minutes looking at everything in here. It was nice, but if I did not have the London Pass I would not pay to view what was up the stairs.

The Jewel Tower is hidden behind Westminster Abbey and I'm sure most people overlook it. It is one of only 2 remaining remnants of the original Palace of Westminster and includes a bit of the original castle walls. The Tower was originally used as the royal family's closet. Over time, it became the archives for Parliament and the office of Standards and Measures.

There is a brand new exhibit that shows the original Palace configurations, how the Parliamentary Archives were stored, etc. It's charming. The building itself also demonstrates how the royal needs changed over time as this "closet" was, relatively speaking, quite small.

It's included in the London Pass and it's worth stopping in before/after you visit the Abbey or Houses of Parliament. (Note that there is a narrow spiral staircase you must use to visit.)

This is of little value, so don't make a special trip to see it. But it is free with the London Pass, so if you are at the houses of Parliament anyway, then stop in for a quick look.
