Description: This traditional fish and chip restaurant has received great reviews from the critics. locals and tourists alike. With afternoon offers and home made pies and sides, this restaurant is a must for anyone who lives or is visiting London. Set in the heart of Soho the restaurant is clean and viberant, with a post war 50s decor and a great set of staff providing the best service.

This place is not a pub and it is not fancy but the fish and chips are great, portions are huge, and the service is just warm. If you want to rest your feet, take the chill off, relax and grab a bite, go here. You can even get beer and wine. Service is excellent. I found this place by asking a police officer during the NFL event in Trafalgar Square where the best fish and chips were. He pulled out his smart phone to show me directions!

Notwithstanding its surroundings and decor viewed in the window, this was an excellent rendition of the traditional fish & chips. Inside buzzy, clean, and friendly. The waiters were well versed in the menu, made helpful suggestions. The large cod and chips is only £1 more than the regular. Arrived quickly, light beer batter, no oily taste, light and delicate, fish-moist and flavorful, great home made tartar sauce for those not traditionalists in vinegar additives, good beer. Only thing missing was the newspaper, but it is a lot cheaper for take-away than eat in. Would highly recommend it for those looking for a "traditional" English meal and not heading north to other establishments.

Golden Union is on the former site of Graham's fish bar from the 70s. As I neared the restaurant, there was a line of at least 20 people waiting to enter, but fortunately they were waiting for take away. I sat down right away and ordered large cod and chips. The light batter was delicious, fish so tasty and together with a few chips and mushy peas, I was 'in heaven'.

After seeing the reviews of this place prior to arriving in London, we made it our mission to eat here. We were so happy, and stuffed with fish and chips that if we ever go back to London, we would definitely seek this place out. The fish pieces were freshly made and HUGE, with plenty of fries - if you're on a diet, I would suggest you share your plate.
