“One night stay for wedding”
Reviewed October 13, 2013 via mobile

My son and I stayed here for a family wedding that we were attending at Islington Town Hall.
Firstly I phoned the hotel early on the Saturday morning to see if when we arrived we would be allowed in the room an hour or so before normal check in time this was all agreed.
When we arrived they had upgraded us to a family room.
We were pleasantly surprised with room as we had checked it out on trip advisor and read few not too good reviews.
The staff were really friendly and terribly helpful especially the guy on reception.
Would def recommend this hotel to friends nothing to fault in any way.
The room was clean tidy and we slept so well we missed breakfast which finished at 11!!!!!
Thank you once again for a very pleasant and enjoyable stay in your hotel. Michelle & Alfie.

I was booked into this hotel for a 3 night stay during the week for a work visit but had to leave after only staying one night. Unfortunately can't recommend this place at all. I'm usually not fussy but this place just wasn't right.

Room was basic and in need of modernising. Bathroom had an unpleasant smell and could have done with a proper clean. Disturbed sleep thanks to bright street light right outside the window and constant banging of doors / noise on the same floor.

The only good thing about our stay was the comfortable bed. Security very low. On morning of departure we packed and left our bag in the room. Told reception we will be back. On our return before checking out time we found the room had been cleaned and the dirty linen in open door way all side our packed bag. Reception not even apologetic.

First off I will say that this hotel was clean and the staff reasonably polite. This covers the positives of the hotel. A group of us booked 3 rooms, all had faults. The room my partner and I stayed in had a painting depicting the Bangladeshi Civil War! Not inviting, the television did not work, the decor was vile and the floor uneven, the other 2 rooms had faults including no lighting in a bathroom, a shower repaired with sellotape, exposed wiring, faulty shower.

The lift was unacceptable with the user having to 'line up' the lift with the door to the storey they require, Even after a night out just wanting to sleep this was ruined by the fire alarm going off briefly at 2am, followed by shouting from the taxi rank next door at 4am.

In the morning the breakfast would have been adequate, but the milk had gone off and the toaster didn't work.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Although it is relatively 'cheap' for London I would prefer one of the chain hotels, or take a train to the outskirts of the capital and say cheaper and happier

Room Tip: Go to another hotel, the rooms are terrible

After the first night we asked to change the room because it was too noisy and the room was brightly lit by the lights of the street.
Both rooms were very small and the bathroom should be better cleaned.
The location is not so bad.

I realise that to save £40 per night in London on hotel accommodation is a false economy. We were in some basement labrinth with very thin walls and sound of rushing water from other rooms. Staff were pleasant breakfast whilst continental was plentiful it is near Islington so plenty of life. We paid £63 for a double room with breakfast thrown in and I am sure there is a lot worse.

If you are under 35 and need a place to crash after a late club its fine sadlly I am too old.

Room Tip: Avoid basement maybe at the back?

I stayed here because I was on a budget and wanted somewhere unusual. I wasn't expecting too much and I felt that the experience was in line with the fee (70 quid mid week for a single room). It was that are university hall of residence accommodation. The decor was tasteful, and while my room was really tiny (the proverbial "couldn't swing a cat" metaphor comes to mind), it was clean, safe, comfortable, and everything worked. I was on the back of the hotel and could sleep okay (with ear plugs) with the window open, which is not always possible in London. There's a nice Eritrean restaurant a few hundred metres down the road which I also recommend. All in all, this was just fine and fair and in line with what I was expecting.

Room Tip: the back of the hotel was quiet. Might be worth paying a bit extra for a double bed - I am simply n...
