We stayed at the Apex London Wall Hotel for one night on January 26th 2013 in a superior deluxe room.
This hotel is only three years old and is a great choice for a weekend stay in London. They have good deals on weekends because they are in the business district and are less busy on weekends.
I was afraid that it would be far away from everything but it was actually quite convenient. We took the DLR from directly inside London City Airport to Bank underground station without having to change, then walked in the direction of Prince's Street and found the hotel easily in less than 5 minutes.
All around are bank headquarters and suit shops and it felt very safe. The hotel itself lies between 3 underground stations: Bank, Liverpool Street station (also a fairly big train station with express trains to Stansted etc.) and Moorgate. This is great when one underground line is closed for repairs as was the case with the Northern Line when we were there.
We also walked easily to St.Paul's and to Borough food market from the hotel. London Bridge is just down the road.
The staff at the hotel were cheerful and friendly and helpful and the lovely doorman made us feel special. They let us check in really early and kept our bags for us after check out on the sunday.
The hotel is decorated in masculine tones, dark purple, dark greys, dark wooden flooring etc. In fact it was hard to tell what time of day it was, but it was strangely soothing and sound absorbing.
The only slight let down was the fish and chips from room service.
Our room was on the first floor and looked out across the road onto an elegant building next door but the floors are staggered and you look between floors and not directly into windows. It didn't bother me at all because we loved the room! It had 2 televisions and a huge comfy purple sofa wide enough to make up as a bed (though not advertised as such) and a huge glassed-in rainfall shower and separate bath. They separated the double bed into two twins for us and we slept really well. It had an ironing board and iron in the cupboard, and tea/coffee and a good sized desk with a hidden vanity mirror. Nice bathrobes were provided. We also liked the shampoos and complementary face sprays.
They don't have a pool, but they do have a 24 hour gym which we did not try out. We weren't there for a view, or a spa visit, we were there to see and do as much as humanly possible in 2 days in London. This hotel was a luxurious and safe place to collapse in.
