“Great, local Thai restaurant with a Europeean twist”
Reviewed December 2, 2011

Have eaten in Kanna 4/5 times now and enjoyed their take-aways on numerous occasions. Consistently great food - especially the dishes with a European twist like the prawn starter with chilli and salad cream (sounds crazy but tastes amazing) or "drunken duck" with a splash of whiskey for added depth of flavour. The tamarind wings are fantastic too. If you're in the Hammersmith or High Street Kensington area and fancy some great food at a reasonable price (about £20 a head with a bottle of beer) you really should try this place out. I've rarely seen it busy, which really annoys me as it deserves better!

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed May 7, 2009

Kanna came highly recommended from a London friend and no wonder..

After a busy morning shopping in Kensington, we took a short bus ride and then found Kanna. The restaurant is chic but relaxed and just what we needed.

We ordered a bottle of Chilean Merlot and got stuck into a big dish of the best Thai prawn crackers and sweet chilli sauce I have ever had.

Firstly we shared prawns with chilli dipping sauce and steamed scallops on the shell with garlic, lime and chilli dressing, both were cooked to perfection and just the right amount of tanginess and chilli heat.

We followed this with sea bass with lemon grass which was delicious, delicately flavoured and beautifully cooked . Alongside we also had Pad Thai which was sweet and spicy, moist and also delicious.

Everything we ate was not only beatifully cooked but thoughtfully presented and we stayed nearly 2 hours to enjoy it. In that time lots of other customers from local offices were in and out in about 40 minutes so speed is not a problem if that's what you want .. or they even do take away.

As for price, very reasonable indeed with starters from about £3.50 and main courses from just £7.00 and the service is very polite and friendly.

Kanna is definitely a great find and well worth a visit.
