The best ever service and meal. Better yet, 50% off with taste card. Will definitely return. My number 1 in London so far!

“Excellent!”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

When in London, definitely put this on your list to go. A must!

The food is incredible and the atmosphere is rich and cozy.
The tea is out of this world, I wish I could buy it!

Staffed by some of the nicest, most attentive and efficient people in all of London!

The location is wonderful, very close to tube and bus stations in South Kensington.

Do yourself a favor and visit this establishment at least once during your stay. You will not regret it!

“Disappointed”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

The
Management of the restaurant must be faulted for a poorly trained and uninformed wait staff, in-attentive service and poorly thought out dishes. On the other hand, the setting was superb and the lounge area was very nice, so if one wanted to sit around in a leisurely fashion and drink, I think you would enjoy yourself.
The menu prominently displayed some interestingly named cocktails but no description of their contents. Our waiter, whose non-English accent was very hard to understand, didn't have the answer. We asked him our questions, but no one came back with those answers. Finally, my daughter-in-law had to get up and go over to the bar herself. Not a good start. We also ordered a bottle of wine.
Two of the 5 entrees contained the same vegetables as in our salads. If we had been told that, we would have changed our orders. Two of the 5 main courses were too salty.
When it came time for payment, the bill did not include a tacked on service fee but there was no line for a tip, either. The young woman said that there was no way to do that! We remarked that we were not guests of the hotel, but that made no difference to hotel management, according to the woman. She then ran my credit card backwards through the card reader at least 5 or 6 times before she finally realized what she was doing incorrectly.
We were very happy to get out of there! We are very sad to report this experience. We were really looking forward to this occasion.

“(Medium) High Tea”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

Booked an afternoon high tea for the family (wife, college aged son/daughter and I) during recent spring break vacation to London, Brugge, Brussels and the Netherlands.
The Aubrey sitting area in the Kensington Hotel, where high tea is served, is very attractive - dark woods and polished brass; very British Empire.
The tea service started well, but the experience never really "took off" for us. Although it wasn't crowded, we didn't feel the service was appropriately attentive for what they charge. Likewise, we were served our scones/clotted cream after they brought our dessert tray, which seemed odd. There was also a lot of comings and goings from the bar area next door, which we didn't mind per se, but it was a bit jarring compared to the serenity that they clearly are going for in the tea service area.
In sum, not a bad experience, but not a transformative one either.

“Consistently good.”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

Went back for a romantic meal on Easter Sunday evening. Had gone before and enjoyed it and decided that the hotel, bar and restaurant were cozy and welcoming. Very good food with a good choise on the toptable offer. The only little thing for me is the deserts that are not up to scratch with the rest. I don't think that anyone around us finished the chocolate brownie as it was boring. No big deal though as they starters and mains were amazing. Will go back in the near future.
