Description: The centre piece of the five-star Langham, London hotel, the dazzling Palm Court is famed as the place where the tradition of afternoon tea was born over 150 years ago, an indulgence that lives on today. Through hand crafted iron gates, guests enter an enchanting wonderland of deep reds and purples, plush fabrics and glamorous surroundings. The aromas of tea leaves brewing intermingle and the Palm Court pianist will help create a relaxing ambience of serendipity. The afternoon tea devotee can celebrate this timeless ritual of beautiful cakes, miniature pastries, scones and delicate finger sandwiches with a few unique twists and over 30 blends of tea to choose from.

As a birthday meal, it was amazing. I was a little skeptical when first looking at the website as it appeared quite focused on Afternoon Tea, but I ended up being very pleasantly surprised.

The surroundings and atmosphere were elegant and sophisticated; the comfortable armchairs worked well in the evening and the pianist in the background overlaid the environment smoothly, in a manner in which conversation was very easy (some places can be a little loud).

The food itself was fantastic as well as great value at £39 for four courses. Between us we ordered fish and meat dishes, and not a one was anything less than delicious.

I would highly recommend this restaurant for more formal evenings and celebrations, and don't underestimate how good dinner is!

Nothing but praise for this quintessential establishment. Service as you would expect, was of a very high standard, attentive but not intrusive. We chose Afternoon Tea, which coincided with Valentines day and our Daughters 13th birthday. Made it very personal with a rendition of Happy Birthday on the piano and a little fairy cake with a single tasteful candle. We chose three std Teas and 1 GF tea for our Daughter, she was not disappointed. A real treat thankyou.

Nothing bad to say at all. Super quality. Posh but not aloof. Friendly and helpful. It was very busy on one of the days we were there, but you would not have known it. No drop off in service speed or attention.

The room was airy, spacious and elegant, with plenty of room between the well-laid tables, and the service was attentive without being pushy – the whole atmosphere was redolent of ‘fine dining’. We had gone for the early evening meal, which was beautifully presented and served, including confit duck and lamb for the main courses, and at £44 a head for three courses including house wine and coffee, I thought was an absolute snip. The room was nearly empty when we arrived at 7.00 (the latest time for the early meal) but by 8.00 was busy and full of atmosphere – and there was no pressure on us to leave. Great value – we will certainly return.
