I’m not normally a fan of chain restaurants, but this was better than I had anticipated. Decor wise, it’s tidy and up together and the menu offered a good choice of dishes, something for most palettes.

A starter of Beef tomato, mozzarella and avocado was simple but refreshing and tasty whilst another starter of meatballs in a tomato sauce was also very good. A Risotto with butternut squash and pancetta was a pretty good main, although perhaps just lacking something flavour wise, but some seasoning livened it up. A main course of meatballs looked promising being served with focaccia rather than the usual pasta and with herby potatoes on the side. This was spoilt though as the meatballs were barely even warm, never mind hot.

Overall, whilst this doesn’t have the appeal of smaller independents, it serves it purpose and we managed to get a table with no problem when many other places nearby were rammed.

Strada used to be amongst the best of the chains but this was very poor. Bland, tired cheese, average base, tomato paste sweet but far from fresh or zesty - barely tasted of tomato.

Not a flashy expensive restaurant but good value for money. Went there recently about 9pm. Restaurant not busy with only another 6 or so tables taken. Waiter had been left on his own and was being kept busy. Nearly left as it took about 15 minutes before our order was taken or we were offered a drink but glad we stayed put as food was very good and didn't take long to arrive once ordered. We had bruschetta with a very generous helping of tomatoes, pizza which was thin and crispy and a pasta dish which was pipping hot. Good service. Would go back.

Chain restaurants can be hit and miss, of course; one branch can be great, another terrible (usually down to the manager), and indeed a single branch can fluctuate under staffing and other pressures.
But we've had two very good Strada experiences in the past year, one in Cambridge and one at this branch, and compared to their direct competition, we think they do a good job, with comfortable seating (albeit tiny tables); first class service, and good food that is excellent value for money. The canned music could have been turned down, but our risottos, wine and panna cotta all hit the spot.
