It's tucked away down a side street close to Liverpool street station. What a hidden gem. Great for a drink or food but ideally both. Has charm and character as well as friendly service.

I visited this restaurant on 8 November with my mother. We booked the special offer which gave us a glass of Prosseco, a Chateaubriand, a Lobster and a mix of three desserts for £29.50 each. It was fantastic value as the food was extremely good - I could not fault any of it. The portions were normal size, which is not always the case when there is a special offer. The staff were very good and friendly. I really would recommend it and cannot wait to go back again.

This was my first visit to Boisdale after a recommendation from a colleague. The occasion was a business lunch and it ticked all the boxes.
I booked online on Toptable which was very easy and it was followed up on the morning by the restaurant. It is worth noting that the time I would have chosen was not available but they come in 15 minute increments and this proved no problem as there is decent bar on the ground floor level for pre-lunch drinks.
The restaurant tables are downstairs in the basement but it is nicely lit and well decorated (with a general Scottish feel and interesting photographs on the wall).
The food was very good but pricey and certainly favoured the lover of meat. I understand that my guests enjoyed greatly their steaks and game of the day for main course and they were also very effusive about the scotch eggs for starter. I had the steak tartare which was good but in truth I have had better.
The wine list is adequate but also not cheap - one minor gripe was that they had run out of our first choice wine which resulted in us opting for a more expensive alternative.
The service was friendly and fairly good although I did have to ask twice for another bottle of wine. Another small point on the wine is that whilst they quite correctly did not decant the whole bottle to avoid the sediment they left far more wine in the bottle than either customary or necessary (as it proved when I subsequently poured most of it into my glass without any obvious sediment).
The restaurant is hidden away down an alley opposite Bishopsgate. As such it is the sort of place which is perhaps below the radar and a good choice for someone who is looking to entertain a guest at somewhere to which they might not previously have gone.
I would certainly go back.
