Description: In the heart of Victoria-Pimlico you will find About Thyme - a bright and buzzy restaurant, usually packed out with folk dropping in from offices in nearby Victoria as well as those lucky locals who have this little gem right on their doorstep. A large purple painted and glass frontage opens out in to an intimate cream painted dining room furnished in subtle and comfortable banquettes and mood lighting while in the summer months pavement dining is a must for those people watching afternoons. About Thyme's bistro style menu is put together with produce fresh from the London markets so expect great tasting flavours straight from ground, sea or field inspired by classic European recipes.

This is a very nice restaurant near Victoria station.

Very nice staff - great service - very helpful

Food is really good and portions are not small! meat and fish cooked exactly as it should be (which is rare is London!)
fresh ingredients, great combos, very good value set menu

Place is very nicely decorated, good lightening in the evening

Wine choice is also very good

Great place for all kind of meals (romantic, family or friends lunch/dinner)

Strongly recommend it!

What a lovely restaurant. As already mentioned, the owner and staff are so friendly and give advice if you are unsure of any of the dishes.
We decided on 5 tapas rather than main dishes. They really were excellent.
The kidneys were the best we have ever had and the owner took time to explain how the wonderful sauce was made. The wine and different breads were a lovely accompaniment.
The risotto was also delicious.
We will book again when we are next in London and just a couple of minutes stroll to Victoria for our train back to the South Coast - lovely way to end a visit to the best capital City in the world.

Tucked away down Wilton Street but just 5 minutes from Victoria is this gem of a Spanish bistro style restaurant. I have been there tens of times with the current owners and always the cooking has been spot on whether of the sea fish or meat main dishes. Some Spanish specialities but otherwise some crossover Mediterranean choices with generous portions throughout. Guests having shellfish have been complementary about them. Probably not the best place for veggies although there is always something on the menu. As I focus on starters and mains I can't really comment on puddings - I've rarely had the space left for them. Wine list has some decent Spanish whites as well as staple and interesting reds. Atmosphere varies depending where you sit from larger groups upstairs to "a deux" largely on the ground floor.

If you've been living in London for years you may well never have heard of About Thyme. My office is only 50 yards away and I didn't go to eat there for years! Oh boy, was I missing out!

Whether you're a Londoner, or a tourist, do make it your business to go there for lunch or dinner - you will not regret it. They have a wonderful chef with a light and creative touch, offer freshly caught fish and superb meat dishes, all served with delectable side dishes, well presented - and accompanied by excellent service from a knowledgeable and helpful team, who welcome me with a glass of Cava within a minute of my arrival!

This is a restaurant with Spanish connections, but the menu is not 'Spanish' in the traditional sense - I would describe it as 'modern European'. Starters rang from squid to their house salad - which without any hesitation at all I can say is the BEST and most flavourful salad I have ever had in a London restaurant! It really is quite outstanding, and you wonder what on earth all the other salads you've ever ordered were about!

On my last visit, I took my lawyer, who commented the sea bass was the best prepared he had had in a London restaurant, and the desserts are most definitely of the homemade variety - with the apple and blueberry crumble simply superb, light, served with delicious ice-cream, so do leave room for this at the end of your meal.

The house wines at About Thyme are also well above the average for a London restaurant, and the restaurant owners are to be applauded for this.

The other delight of eating at About Thyme, is that the tables are larger than the norm, particularly when there are just 2 of you eating - and the tables are spaced well apart so you genuinely feel your conversation is private - this is becoming most unusual in London other than in hotel restaurants. Furthermore, there is the option to eat on their upper floor - many restaurants with an upper floor seem quite forbidding - often less well decorated and lacking in atmosphere - this is certainly not the case at About Thyme - the upstairs room is delightful, bright, beautifully decorated and has a lovely room of it that is ideal for any smaller celebrations for up to 20 people.

Do go. I'm so sorry that I missed out on the pleasures of About Thyme for years - you won't be disappointed. I would go every week if I could.
