Our party of 4 went for a pre-concert meal (5.30 slot). We had been encouraged by reviews on Tripadvisor, but did not have inflated expectations from the modest exterior and quite simple, spare interior. (We later saw the upstairs restaurant, which has a more obviously charming and stylish ambience.) We were greeted with great warmth, and the friendliness of the reception turned out to be the precursor for many excellent features: service was excellent, choice varied (with plenty of tempting items) and the food itself really good: particular favourites were the beautifully cooked - tender and succulent - monkfish, the very attractively presented
pigeon, and the unusual baby courgettes with flowers in beetroot tempura. But everyone was highly pleased with their choices. Good olives and bread with olive oil, very clean, crisp cava and an unusual (very good) Spanish white (godello grape). All in all, a great find in the often indifferent environs of Victoria.
