Description: In the heart of Victoria-Pimlico you will find About Thyme - a bright and buzzy restaurant, usually packed out with folk dropping in from offices in nearby Victoria as well as those lucky locals who have this little gem right on their doorstep. A large purple painted and glass frontage opens out in to an intimate cream painted dining room furnished in subtle and comfortable banquettes and mood lighting while in the summer months pavement dining is a must for those people watching afternoons. About Thyme's bistro style menu is put together with produce fresh from the London markets so expect great tasting flavours straight from ground, sea or field inspired by classic European recipes.

Our party of 4 went for a pre-concert meal (5.30 slot). We had been encouraged by reviews on Tripadvisor, but did not have inflated expectations from the modest exterior and quite simple, spare interior. (We later saw the upstairs restaurant, which has a more obviously charming and stylish ambience.) We were greeted with great warmth, and the friendliness of the reception turned out to be the precursor for many excellent features: service was excellent, choice varied (with plenty of tempting items) and the food itself really good: particular favourites were the beautifully cooked - tender and succulent - monkfish, the very attractively presented
pigeon, and the unusual baby courgettes with flowers in beetroot tempura. But everyone was highly pleased with their choices. Good olives and bread with olive oil, very clean, crisp cava and an unusual (very good) Spanish white (godello grape). All in all, a great find in the often indifferent environs of Victoria.

This was the 3rd time we had been to About Thyme in the last 3 months and it gets better each time we go. The last twice we ate downstairs because we ate early and upstairs was still very quiet. We have tried different dishes each time and have not been disappointed once. As starters we have had the Serrano ham, lamb kidneys, the foie gras special (fabulous!), courgette flowers and beef carpaccio. For mains we tried the crab linguini, halibut, calves liver, rabbit ragout and the duck confit from the set menu. And everything has been cooked and presented beautifully. The portions are also generous. We have struggled to get to the puddings but can recommend the carajillo - black coffee with flamed brandy and a twist of orange peel - gorgeous. The service is attentive and friendly and the owner is charming. Very highly recommended.

Very close to Victoria Station this lovely little restaurant is a real find. Only ever been here for lunch but the set menu is good value and they will swap if you don't like one of the starters. Very friendly and nothing too much trouble. I asked for my whole sea bass to be filleted, no problem, my friend wanted to swap the Iberian meat platter for gradvalax , no problem. Been a number of times now and never disappointed.

Hidden away behind Victoria station is this wonderful small Spanish restaurant. The food is excellent with great choices and a good variety. The staff are so enthusiastic helping with wine choices (I know nothing about Spanish wine) and their suggestions were spot on. Welcoming, friendly and with a good presentation. I wish all restaurants could be this good!
