Description: Goodman is a uniquely British interpretation of a New York grill, offering the best beef from both sides of the Atlantic. Among the huge selection of meat we serve in our Mayfair restaurant is American USDA 'Prime' corn-fed beef, grain-fed Irish Angus, and various rare breeds from the Lake District. Every steak we serve from our extensive 'cut' list has been dry-aged on site - it's the best way to concentrate flavour - then we cook it over charcoal. To accompany your steak, we're proud of the American red wine collection we have amassed - we know it's the best way to complement red meat. Our Mayfair restaurant is located just off Regent Street.

“Quality, service and atmosphere”

Forget Gaucho! This place is the very best and if David is working, you are in for a real treat. Food and service par excellence. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great! Not cheap but worth every penny

“Best restaurant in London!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

We just finished dinning at this wonderful restaurant, we were celebrating my birthday and anniversary. Upon sitting us at our table a wonderful charming waitress welcomed us, congratulate us and gave us each a complimentary glass of champagne, wow! Our waitress was just as amazing, she explained the available cuts of meat and made recommendations. We started with the tempura prawns, a must have, the tempura and avocado with mango leave your taste buds dancing. I had the Goodman ribeye, juicy and full of flavor. My husband had the filet no knife needed tender. These steaks come with three different sauces which are all incredible. We had the lobster and macaroni very good and the chips are a must have, they all come with different mustards and wasabi. Complimentary flat or sparkling water!! At the end of the meal I was bought a wonderful complimentary chocolate cake. This restaurant is just amazing, gives you so much, the service was outstanding, the quality of food superb, and while others have expressed it is expensive I beg to differ, I think the price is just right...

“Best steak ever!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

We - my husband, son and me - had a meal at Goodman's on the 27th December. We came to London for a Christmas treat and part of it was a meal at this restaurant. - What a great treat it was. The steaks were the best we have ever had in a restaurant. But it was not only the meat that was fantastic, also all the side dishes and desserts were delicious. The staff - unfortunately do we not know the name of the waitress you served us - was so helpful and friendly. She recommended the stilton sauce to go with the steak, which was really nice. They even showed us the kitchen - Chris showed us round and did not rush us at all even though the kitchen staff were very busy. We will definitely come back to this place when we visit London again. This restaurant had it all - excellent food, service and atmosphere.

“Very loveable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2012

Ended up in Goodmans last night after the restaurant we were planning on going to was closed - but were far from disappointed !! The fois gras as a starter was probably the best I have ever had.

For mains We had the fillet. My only small complaint was that I had asked for it blue but it came out more medium-rare, but I didn't complain as i only noticed after having a bite. It was still great though, just make sure they know you want it blue if u ask for it blue.

As we sat at the bar, we were taken care of by 2 bar men, one English and one Brazilian... Both were very friendly, and recommended very good wine.

The atmosphere is great, very comfortable. Not a great choice of beers but the 10 or so page wine list makes Up for that.

“Another good steak based meal. Bit pricey and a couple of small niggles”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2012

Staying in London for a few days so had to come back to the Mayfair Goodmans again. Didnt bother with starters so went for the 450gram fillet steak (£45) with basic chips (Not the truffle chips) some spinach in guerrier cheese and a bottle of white wine. Overall it was £200 for two adults with no starters and no desert.

I enjoy getting the steak cooked to my exact liking which is very well done, with a brown - not pink -middle. NO BUTTER on it, And cooked like a small roasting joint NOT butterflied. So as you can see the chef has to know his steak to get all that right.

Pleased to say he performed well and delivered. So I am sure he will cook it the way YOU like.

Couple of little moans
1) Waitress was off form.
2) No bread (which she did realise and apologized about) Not worried too much more room for steak
3) She forgot my wifes Lobster so they had to rush off and get it. That was NOT good.
4) Wine poured out "to taste it" while I was still drinking Jack Daniels and Coke.
5) Wine waiter trying to pour wine while we are still drinking spirits.
6) Pepercorn sauce way too small a portion for the size of the steak ordered.

Overall these are small niggles. But it prevented Goodmans getting 5 stars. When you are paying £200 for steak, chips and wine your team had better be on form no matter how late at night it is... (We arrived at 9.30pm and were out by 11.30)

Some pics taken on the wobbly iPhone to show you the big lump of steak.

Would I go back? Yes.
