Description: Opened in September 2009, Apsleys, a Heinz Beck Restaurant is the first restaurant outside Italy created by internationally renowned chef, Heinz Beck, holder of three Michelin stars at La Pergola in Rome. Heinz Beck soon earned the restaurant its own Michelin Star, when in February 2010 it became the fastest London establishment to be bestowed with the award and maintained this award onwards. Apsleys? stunning Venetian-style dining room, with its glass roof and plush upholstery, is one of the most beautiful spaces for dining in London, an elegant setting for any occasion. Overseen by Beck and run by Executive Chef Heros De Agostinis, who used to work with Heinz Beck in Rome. Beck has created a menu that focuses on lighter Mediterranean-inspired dishes and is concerned with keeping dishes healthy and as approachable as they are exciting. Signature dishes include the magnificent Carbonara Fagotelli of melt-in-the-mouth pasta parcels. At lunchtime, Apsleys' 'Menu del Giorno' is a popular choice, while Beck's seven course tasting menu is ideal for celebratory dinners. The wine list has enormous depth and includes some of the rarest vintages in the world. Apsleys, a Heinz Beck Restaurant is located on the ground floor of The Lanesborough in the heart of Knightsbridge, the restaurant has two semi-private dining rooms available for larger parties.

The best lunchtime deal since Eric Chavot was at the Capitol! Wonderful room, wonderful food, fantastic service and at £35 including a glass of sparkly. The hotel's valet parking was very reasonable too. It's great... In fact it was pretty much perfect!

We had a signature dish menu, and I have never has such a brilliant pasta dish as the Carbonara (can't write the name as TA thinks it's profanity!) - truly an explosion of textures and tastes every mouthful. The Iberian Suckling Pig was mighty fine as well, and an excellent cheese board to finish.
The service was unobtrusive and on point, one of our party was celebrating a birthday, and the staff realised so delivered a birthday dessert unasked for, but much appreciated.

So, to make the wife happy, take her for a nice meal on Valentine's Day.
The restaurant is big and was fully booked with lovers paying the minimum for two of £330 for 7 courses fully paid for 14 days in advance, excluding service, tea or coffee.
The service when we arrived was immaculate and continued to be so. Food coming out of the kitchen got slower and slower as the evening progressed, hence having to order two bottles of wine! One course of tortellini was luke warm and the veal of another course was stringy and we could see other tables leaving that course as well. The time taken from start to finish for the meal was over three hours and one can only do so much loving talk. Total bill including the service, wine, mint tea and an expresso, £400 above the £330 already paid. My wife was not happy with the length of time the meal took and the two below average courses and confronted the maitre d' whilst i hid below the table. He immediately wiped the £100 odd of service charge off (you don't know what my wife can be like!). All in all the food was good and the ambience great and will go back again but on a normal evening when i'm sure the restaurant will not be fully booked and the kitchen not overloaded.

Super food , excellent service, and a delightful elegant ambiance. Not cheap, but the 5 course tasting menu at £65 is excellent. deserves its Michelin *.
