Description: In an area of London where faceless service and upmarket chains make dining an anodyne experience, Gatti’s is a welcome relief. The dining room, packed with personality while also being sophisticated and discreet, has a masculine, big city atmosphere giving you the feeling that this is a place where big deals are done over drinks. Gatti’s seems to pride itself on warm, welcoming service which is at the same time professional, and freshly prepared, home style food. The Italian menu is free from the ubiquitous pizza and instead concentrates on beautifully cooked traditional meat, fish and pasta dishes with an earthy Roman slant.

I had a small business lunch at Gatti's yesterday for three people at around 1.30pm. The staff were very friendly and the italian waiters had a very pleasant sense of humour helping to keep the atmosphere light and relaxed.

The food was, of course, classic Italian and cooked to perfection. Pasta dishes are just right with no overcooking or straying from the classic methodology and flavours. I would be happy to eat here anytime and would recommend it as an oasis from the rush of city business.

The location and external appearance belies its standards and would not attract passers by or chance trade and if you didn't know about it you would probably miss it.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I would recommend it as a lunch venue

Given where this place is and the amount of money swilling around I can understand why they have to charge so much money. Both to cover their costs but also to attract the City millionaire who doesn't care about how much money they spend on lunch.

The staff are fast and efficient. Seated, order taken, food arrives. Bish, bosh. You can be done in an hour.

Perhaps the speed has a negative impact on the food. The pasta I had which was a variety of mushrooms, rocket, parmesan and a poached egg over a bed of linguine sounded amazing on the menu.

Miraculously it tasted of almost nothing. Poorly sourced ingredients cooked without care to seasoning I suppose.

£90 for two to have no wine, starter and mains, 3 beers and one coffee. That's not value for money. Unless you earn £2M a year and you've lost sight of what good food should taste like...

Went here one night to meet friends on the basis it was mutually convenient for everyone.

It was empty, but it was a Monday evening, so can forgive that, although the restaurant was a bit clinical. Service was also good, we weren't rushed and were able to sit and catch up for as long as we wanted until they closed up. Food was decent, not amazing, but a little on the expensive side for what it was - again, to be expected in the City/Liverpool St though.

I'd probably go elsewhere by preference, but would go again if in the area..!

What fantastic service no matter who you are you will be treated with respect and be given the most impeccable service! The food is amazing, so well presented ad so much variety but with put being overly pretentious! Such a winner! Please come and dine here, you won't regret it! And open another please away from the city, so I can bring my friends on a saturdy when unfortunately due to the cry being closed this place also shuts do

I was amazed to see just one review of this Italian gem. Others know its worth as it was full at lunch time.

Yes it is quite pricey, but it is right in the heart of the city's financial district (no doubt with a rent to match) with a good modern ambience. But its great strength is classic Italian food as it used to be before the awful chain restaurants. Couple that with knowledgeable Italian waiters, who really know about service, and you're well on the way to a great eating experience. My fourth visit and the only one when I did not choose one of the really good pastas on offer. But everything was spot on even to a memorable expresso at the end! Go there - you will enjoy it.
