…..and it won't break the bank, and the service is exceptional. I found this place on a total lark; it is around the corner from where I play cards. Of course you don't care about that….but you might care that it is on a quiet block two minutes on foot from Marble Arch, Selfridges, etc.
If you live in Paris you have at least one 'steak/frites' place. If you live in London you need an Indian restaurant you can count on. I am lucky to have two (the other being Moti Mahal…a bit more upscale near Covent Garden).
At Zayna, I knew I was 'home' the moment I walked in and was personally greeted by Akshay, the manager. 'What was I looking for?', he wanted to know. I was in a hurry, just wanted something light. So…..he took gentle control….he said 'How about if I bring you a light salad with fresh chopped vegetables (Kutchoomer Salad | £5.00!!), and a couple of curries, some rice and one nan. Perfect (we were a party of three).
Everything was fast, as asked, but this is not fast food, this is fantastic food. Wonderful spices in all the dishes, hot or mild as you'd like. Pakoras, Samosas…..these folk just flat out know how to cook…..and again, it won't break your pocketbook. If you're in the area, or anywhere nearby, give them a shot.
