We were given a voucher for Bel Canto as a anniversary gift and were really excited to go. However, we were left quite underwhelmed by the experience.
Atmosphere - nice ambience but the tables are far too close together. We were stuck between two other couples who were not talking to each other and (I felt) were listening to our conversation. This meant that we could not relax or feel at ease. Also we were by the door and people kept leaving it open - so cold!
Opera - this was great and very enjoyable. However, this was spoiled by the heavy sell of the Bel Canto CD - how many times do we have to say that we are not interested in buying it?!
Food - Expensive for what it is.I ordered the steak (came with a supplementary fee) and that is exactly what it is - no vegetables, nothing. My husband had the chicken which was OK, but you get better in Zizi's for a fraction of the price.
Value: If we hadn't of had the voucher our meal and ticket would have come to £150 - I wasn't even drinking and my husband only had one glass of wine! the service charge is too high.
Summary - talented singers but way over-priced and atmosphere ruined by a hard sell and pushy singers. You can get better meal+theatre tickets at a better value elsewhere.
