The sign of a good restaurant (or rather, good entertainment) - ordering coffee just so we didn't have to leave.

I was a teeny bit put off when we first arrived, as we came a little early and got booted out in order not to disturb the staff setting up for the evening. However, I couldn't fault anything after that so forgave them.

The menu is reasonably priced, but littered with supplement charges, so you can spend a lot more than the cost of the set menu. I ordered foie gras (supplement) and the fish special of the day, while my partner had crab, followed by steak (both with supplements!). The food was good, and despite what some people have said, we didn't feel the wait between the courses was too long.

On to the main reason for visiting the restaurant - the singers. It is a little strange being served by someone, who then launches into an aria two seconds later. This does give you a chance to chat to the singers though.

The singers were amazing, with excerpts chosen from The Marriage of Figaro and La Traviata (complete with a complimentary glass of prosecco for The Drinking Song) amongst others. Seeing opera being sung close-up is a fantastic experience, and incredibly moving. The singers also know how to make the most of the setting, moving through the restaurant as they perform the pieces and interacting with the diners as best as they can.

I wouldn't come back for the food alone, but for the overall experience I would definitely return.

We had a lovely evening and are definitely going back. Great for a fun and original night out.
We had the specials of the day, pumpkin soup then fish, both excellent. For dessert, the chocolate gateau and sorbet, which were both excellent. Very glad we didn't go for the tiramisu, which looked very unappealing when it reached the table next to us.

I went here for my birthday after getting a discount voucher and was very intrigued! It was absolutely brilliant, food was good and the singing was outstanding. We were worried that it might be a little intrusive but it wasn't at all, they sing about every 15 mins or so and it's beautiful. Great atmosphere and excellent service, would definately recommend it to anyone!!

Bel Canto delivers much more than just a meal. The French inspired food would be reason enough to go, as it is beautifully presented without the excesses of foams, smears, and daubs which so many chefs seem to think are de rigueur.
Suspend your doubts about the concept of singing waiters/waitresses as these are seriously talented young professionals, many of whom will be stars in their own right in due course, having trained at top conservatoires. Apparently, the cast is drawn from a list of 60 performers so the repertoire will change each evening. Plus, it was a pleasure to talk with the singers after the 'show' as they clearly enjoy the experience as much as the diners. It is all very relaxed, with an interval every 15 minutes or so which allows for normal conversation to continue.
The only (small) niggle is that there are too many supplements on the supposedly fixed price menu, but this did not detract from an otherwise unique and hugely enjoyable evening. If you think of it as being a great meal in comfortable surroundings, with excellent service, and an integral show with genuine talent, then it becomes very good value. The evening really worked for my wife and I, and it looked good for small groups too. We left feeling sated and elated.
