This very good trendy, and award winning, restaurant is in the upmarket area of Notting Hill in London. It is very well known, and bookings need to be made quite some time in advance. I was fortunate enough to be taken by my London based family a few months ago whilst visiting from Sydney. It was indeed a real treat and we also got to have a look at the large modern kitchen area and met the very lovely Clare Smyth, the chief Chef and entrepreneur behind the restaurant. Service, from the time of arrival to departure was exemplary. A very nice sitting area and adjacent bar provided a great place to relax and meet the group before being taken into the modern and pleasantly designed restaurant area. Tables are beautifully set, if anything a little crowded for a group given the large supply of eating implements and glasses. A sommelier advised us on wines but, if anything, this was a little overdone with glasses being topped up with small volumes of wine at what seemed to be every few minutes, we’d rather have had less intrusive service with larger helpings. The menu was fantastic with each dish beautifully presented, some a true work of art that one felt guilty disturbing the appearance just to eat the lovely food. Core is known for its use of fresh healthy food suppliers. One may choose a la carte or settle for a fixed variable course menu. All in all, a superb dining experience on a very special occasion, well worth a visit if you can obtain a booking whilst visiting London.
