I only stayed at this hostel for two nights, which was fine - Any longer and I would definitely have preferred to stay elsewhere. The rooms are very small and crowded, with only two powerpoints (one of which was taken by one person the entire time, they were also in a corner that could barely be reached due to bags and a sink in the way - it was really inconvenient, many of us had to charge our phones in the common area instead), barely any room for luggage, and the doors would start to beep loudly if you didn't close them within a second or two. The one good thing about the rooms were that the bunks had curtains, which is nice. I found that the heating was up far too high, I kept waking up in the middle of the night sweating! The showers are the type where you push a button and get maybe 20-30 seconds of hot water. If there was more than one other person in the shower block with you, you could say goodbye to that hot water. There were maybe 15 showers in the block, so it was nice not having to wait. There is also no proper door or shelves in the showers, just a curtain, so you need to leave your towel hanging outside and all your stuff in another area. There were lockers, but to be honest, I couldn't be bothered paying to use them. The common room was VERY crowded, to the point where it was uncomfortable. Breakfast was just cornflakes and toast. The milk was off the first morning I was there. The wifi was pretty unreliable and unavailable in the rooms unless you pay extra. 6 pounds to use the washer and drier, and none of the sinks have plugs, making hand-washing really difficult.

The hostel is quite good, you have to share the room with other people but each bed has its own curtains and you have your own privacy or at least enough. Breakfast is included and for the price it's really ok. Even the position is good, closed to everything. The staff is kind and even if you come at 2 in the night you are more than welcomed.

I stayed with a friend at Smart Russell Square for a girls weekend in a private room for two, and despite some of the reviews on here (which are hugely biased). We couldn't believe how wrong trip advisor had been! We'd prepared ourselves for the worst but found instead clean warm rooms, friendly staff and great value for money. For £30/pppn for a private twin room in London there was nothing to complain about. The location was superb. The lack of working vending machine/a bar in the hostel was no problem with the tesco only being a very short walk away. Our only issue was a cold shower on the first morning, which was rectified speedily, and the stairs, however, these weren't factor which took away from the value, or great atmosphere of the Hostel. Would absolutely recommend it!

Room Tip: Absolutely go for a private twin. Much more privacy and safety. Would also avoid the black guy with...

The hostel as a whole is good. Service is efficient, and for the price paid no complaints can be had. I had some trouble sleeping, mainly due to snorers, but aside from that was impressed. Would recommend.

Room Tip: Make sure the windows are open, it gets ridiculously hot without them.

Not a bad hostel for what you pay! Rooms are fairly narrow and rather warm however the beds were not too bad, comfy enough for a decent night's sleep. The walls were on the slightly thin side so we could hear everyone talking and walking about.
Just behind the tube station so quick links in to the rest of London.

much worse than what I remembered! 2 electrical outlets in a room from 15 people, not there is space to put a trolley, the bathrooms of the first floor you do not close, the wash basins are microscopic and almost all broken, not maintain the pressure of the taps, the rag who use to clean the bathroom is the same of the rooms,( when the clean) the shower with hot water is only that of the left, in the room from 9 people with 3 electrical outlets will only works 1. of positive girls of the reception and the position.

Room Tip: Look for another hostel
