This place is not a restaurant - it is a dive. It is literally an underground tacky cocktail bar.

We had a booking at 8pm. However, as the restaurant (and I say that in the loosest sense) only had one menu, we had to wait for the other three groups to finish with it before the wine stained item was passed down to us.

The knee height tables and padded wobbly stools made eating a real balancing act. However, the portion sizes were so small that the 'eating' part of this didn't take long anyway.

As for atmosphere, there was none. The restaurant itself is tiny and uncomfortable. The toilets seemed to be an after thought so there was a plastic partition at the end of the alcove where they had been added in.

If you had come to this cocktail bar (it's really NOT a restaurant) and ordered the food as bar snacks, you would probably be quite happy. However, we thought we were going to a restaurant. I would expect to sit at a table and eat calmly with decent sized portions. The portions were too small, and the price of drinks unreal. A small bottle of beer £5 and cocktails £10. They didn't even serve green tea!

We ordered a sharing platter which contained pretty good sushi, some chicken skewers and edemame beans. The sushi was ok. We also ordered the baby squid, soft shell crab and monk fish. All of it was ok and I would be happy with dishes if it wasn't so tainted by the small portion size, terrible service and unbelievable venue.

There are no positives to this underground bar and I would not recommend it to anyone.

This place was a terrible excuse for a restaurant. It was a den. The 'tables were right next to the toilets, you could hear them being flished and hear the hand dryers while you're eating. The grilled asparagus was nice but thats it! the sushi was gluggy and you couldnt bite through the seaweed paper so our plate was cleared with spat out pieces of sushi paper on it! revolting.
We had finished our mains and asked where our squid was that we'd ordered and then they decided to tell us they didnt have any. They had no desserts, the wine we had was awful. The waitors had no idea what was going on, they had to 'ask' how many pieces of sushi we got when we questioned them. A pretty basic question!
DO NOT WASTE A PENNY HERE IT IS THE WORST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.
Entertainment value was good given every single other table complained but im only saying that as we had to find a positive or we'd have walked out crying.

Kumo is a nice lounge that serves food. Don't go (as my wife and I did) expecting a high-end Japanese restaurant, because this isn't what you will get.

However, Kumo surprised us with good food, drinks, and service.

We booked a table at around 8:30pm, and about half of the small lounge tables were taken. Every server who came to our table was very nice, and even the manager asked how we were. The atmosphere is like a small, nice lounge. The music was good and at a reasonable level so you can still have a conversation.

The food really surprised us, especially the sushi. Although there aren't tons of options, what were ordered was fresh and tasty. I could see a snobby sushi person disliking the more plain offerings, but it is filling and reasonably priced.

I would recommend Kumo for a classy start to a date night. Maybe an appetizer before a nice meal somewhere else? Or even have a few sushi mains here and go to another spot for dessert.

One word for this place horrendous!!
The manager said Kumo would only accept 1 of the 2 TravelZoo coupons as they had to be under different names.
I still have the spare coupon but will not go back even to get value’s worth.
Walking in the place we thought disappointment as the place was so small to what we thought it would be on their website, despite this we thought oh well im sure they make up for it in other ways
After 5mins of being seated, we had to request the drink + food menu then only to be given 2 menus between 4 people
Our wine arrived served with martini glasses (the waitress said they had none, despite a table of 6 had wine glasses which we pointed out and replied they had run out.
As the wine was spilling we asked for champagne glasses instead
Bathroom was only one step away from where we sat in the restaurant - you can hear toilets flushing, taps running + hand dryers going and when in the toilets you can hear conversations going on in the restaurant.
We ordered 7 dishes (would have been 8 if they had scallops in) and requested gluten free soya sauce
It took 45minutes for the waitress to dump 5 dishes and said ‘that’s it’
We had to remind her we were waiting for asparagus and chicken dish
We told the manager about the service and how the evening went so far just that he was sorry
As the champagne glasses came, 2 x3 tables were getting served wine in wine glasses - we questioned this and she shrugged her shoulders and walked off
The seabass was most definitely dead, the beef tasted like welldone cheap chewy steak, squid was very well fried, if you could find any crab in the crab salad it was otherwise drenched in mayo, the haddock dish was fine (that’s still even overrating it) but very much tapas sized portion
As we were so hungry we finished all 5 dishes and still waiting for the other 2 dishes, 15mins later the manager came over to say they don’t have asparagus (why it took them over and hour to realize) and chicken wasn’t ordered
The manager tried to rectify the situation by giving us a platter of food which was probably was their left over’s as it was mostly cucumber (lets hope they were not e.coli’d) sushi rolls oh and finally the gluten free soya arrived despite finishing our mains
Then came over with a round of shots including one for himself of course
The bill arrived luckily with the coupon we paid 83 even if they charged full price I would not have paid the full amount
More than this happened but ive given up going into further detail
And to be honest this place deserves to be closed down so let’s hope it goes into bankruptcy
DO NOT COME HERE!!
