We stayed in the Fraser Monument Residence during a work relocation for a couple of weeks. It really can't be said that we would recommend it. The rooms are incredibly noisy with no soundproofing at all on the windows, those on the lower floors will be woken with the clanging of the metal gate every time it opens and you can hear every word spoken in the street. Appliances not working, television and phones required several attempts to get them to function by the in-house staff and expensive wi-fi access weren't positives. As a couple working in separate locations we were given one key which was incredibly impractical, this was similarly not rectified within the 3 weeks we were staying.
There are good points to the Residence - the location is spot on for mid-week city work but central for the weekends. The City is very quiet at the weekends (so don't expect shops and cafes to be open Saturday / Sunday) so may not be ideal for 1st time London visitors, but good if you want to avoid the more typical tourist spots. And the staff are great (well they have to be with the number of enquiries they get!) and were always available even if they are a short walk away.
