I really think the bad reviews must be for some other hotel called The Windmill and not for the hoStel in Acton, which is in terms of facilities and cleanness far better than any other hostel I have stayed at in London. I booked the 4-bed female only dorm. It was a very large room with four single beds in it and every bed had its own nightstand. My bed was already made and the bedding was new. The room also had a fireplace (not working), a wardrobe, a large TV and a leather armchair. The showers and the toilet were fully renovated. The smoking area was the very well -kept beer garden of the pub underneath. It was very quiet too. If you don't mind the fact that it is not right downtown, I souls say it would make an excellent choice

Disgusting place laundry was everywhere & hairs in bathroom !!
You will understand when you visit, this place is NOT GOOD! very rude & unhelpful staff when i arrived for my stay and did not accept payment as with card. very much insist on cash, which is OK, but preferred by card to pay.
meals as breakfast NOT included and moved from lower deck to higher one with owner moving our things, (i think) which means people go through our things. One bathroom between a lot of people, for the money was not as I had expected. Long walk to tube station & very bad money value

Room Tip: insist on top room for less noise, but still is rather dirty

Very nice atmosphere and an extremely helpful and kind staff. Their description of the place is a little bit wrong. No laundry facilities or airport transfer like it said. Also, they only accept cash for payment. Breakfast is included, but you pay for it. So that would not really mean breakfast is included...

This place is cheap because it's a [--]. Power was out in the toilet and shower for 2 days. Not recommended. The only thing good about it was the friendly one eared cat outside. Even when the workers know you are staying there they are still dodgy. There was a homeless lady living there who wondered the halls at night. Staying here is just about like being homless.

Stayed here with girlfriend for the London marathon.
This is not a hostel or a hotel, it is two bars (one a pub, one more a club), which has rooms above and beside, you must enter through the club to get to your room, a bit odd.
Arove to a fight going on outside the place which the bouncers were sorting out (yes, this hostel has bouncers..), went inside where another fight was starting...
Found somebody who worked there who took us to our room. It was downstairs (on the same floor and next door to a pub and the club. Very loud music until four am, no sleep of course. The windows opened out into a courtyard, used by all the pub/club clientele to drink and smoke. The windows couldn't be locked - a little worrying when leaving your stuff in the room while you go out for the day.
The room we were in I think was actually the hotel owners playroom for her children, as it was full of kids toys. Came home on the second day to find somebody had been in the room, our stuff had been moved around (even though no cleaning had been done), along with the toys...
Another night with little sleep.
Came home on the second night to find our room unlocked and all of our stuff gone. Went to find manager, who it turned out had moved us to another room now available which would be quiter (it was on the top floor). Didn't ask us if we wanted this, or at least wait until we got home so we could move our own stuff.
The new top floor room was alot nicer, and the bathroom on that floor too - this was the new part of the property. Although still it was very noisy (being above a club and pub).
The hostel had said it did breakfast. It didn't. We enquired and they just said no they didn't.
To be fair, the owners ment very well, they were kind people just trying to make some more money out of their bar/club business, but in this case the two didn't go well together.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here, stay on the top floor, leave nothing in your room during the day, and make...

Omg, It is the worst place we've ever stayed in.. Rooms are freezing cold, everything is old, not like old fashioned, but OLD... terrible... There is pets in there as well, cat, which can walk in a bar, or sleep on a couches, I wouldn't mind pets, but I am allergic to cats, outside is all the time barking dog.. And on the way out is a kitchen where I saw shef smoking!! This is not very good at all!!! Only one toilet and shower for about 10 or 12 rooms. No point to put on any pictures, because another girl here showed it all as it is!!

Just one word to describe it: orrible!!!! I travel quite a lot and always I stay in hostel or cheap hotel but I never seen an orrible hostel like this. The hostel(would be better call it staff house) is situated above a pub is not a proper hotel structure so there aren't reception and other services like the daily cleaning of the room etc. Is really fat to the city centre. Furniture are very poor and everything is not according to law. Toilets (two for 10 rooms)are very filthy and decadent. Carpet is really dirty and old, everything is really unhygienic, the bathtowel that you have to ask to the staff(that is the pub staff) are washed and dried from themselves with a washin machine and radiator. Inside the structure wander free a big dog; one night the dog was reckless against a friend who was returning to room, she was terrified!I had a really bad experience, I strongly don't recommend it!
