When you ask for sausage, bacon, poached egg & fried potatoes and get cold sausage, bacon, fried eggs and chips and your friend asks for poached eggs and gets scrambled, and the waiter is adamant that he's giving you and tried to tell you that eggs put in the microwave with milk & butter is poached egg, you know you need to go somewhere else - which we did.

A hotel reception suggestion brought us to this unassuming neighborhood Italian restaurant several years ago and we have dined there on every London visit since. The prices are quite reasonable and the food is excellent, especially the pasta. The charming and helpful staff make every visit special. In more than half a dozen visits, we have never been disappointed. If you are interested in decor and atmospherics, this probably isn't for you. However if you're interested in excellent Italian food at attractive prices, it's well worth a try.

Ended up at Villa Rosa after a horrible experience at the nearby Pride of Paddington pub. We were welcomed at the door as though we were old friends. Ordered spaghetti al pomadora and had to wait a bit (one glass of wine) while it was cooked to order. It was sensational. The pasta was al dente perfect; the sauce, light and bright as it should be. Favorably priced, too.

I have been eating at this restaurant every couple of weeks for over a year. It's a great location, good honest traditional Italian food with fab hosts in Fernando and Sebastien. The tricolour salad is my fav starter for dinner is either the spinach & ricotta cannelloni or the villa rosa pizza. If I can fit in desert then the tiramisu. Usually with a couple of glasses of wine either the red or white House are good. If its high season then be there before 7.00 to get a table otherwise you could miss out. I hope you enjoy your visit should you give this great little restaurant a try!
