“Best option in St.Pancreas/King's Cross area”
Reviewed July 19, 2010

We stayed only one night and left early in the morning. The room was clean and comfortble (impressive how you can furnish in a sober yet functional style a room using only Ikea products!) and the neighborhood silent and quiet. The service was super kind (the original booking was for one person, yet they acceped two more people sleeping in with a short notice ) and the pub downstairs offers a warm and familiar environment for a few drinks before going to sleep - we even managed to see a jam session of Irish music! Unfortunately we did not manage to try the breakfast, since we left too early. If you book through their websites you get cheaper rates. If you fancy "trendy" places, go somewhere else, but if you need a truly English experience, this place is the one! Ideal if you have to catch an early train from the close-by stations, much better of the cheap, dirty hotels around the block.

Visited London for 3 nights with wife and daughter, and would say this hotel was perfect for us.
The accommodation was basic, but comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the breakfasts were tasty, well presented and generously proportioned. The Harrison is located in a pleasant area, and is very convenient for King's Cross station. One tip: Russell Square is the nearest tube station, using the short cut at the western end of the street.
Highly recommended!

We stayed for two nights and had a thoroughly fab time, So close to Kings Cross but also very close to a little community of delightful pubs cafes and restaurants. The small french pattisserie 5 mins away served the most delicious food. Room clean and bed comfy - a little noisy but it was lovely hot weeked so had windows wide open. Fruit and yogurt for breakfast was superb. I agree that coffee was awful.

Don't be put off by the location. The approach from Kings Cross station doesn't look great but the pub was well kept and we really enjoyed our stay. Nothing negative to say.

The staff were really friendly & welcoming.

Food. Whilst we only ate breakfast, that was excellent(fresh fruit, proper sausages & bacon) and the other food we saw being served looked great. We arrived lunchtime Friday and the place we full, the majority eating.

Rooms. The room we stayed in (including bathroom) was small, but OK when compared to other similar hotels/B&B's in the area. It was recentl decorated, clean and the bed was comfortable.

It was alittle noisy at night but it was from isolated individuals and could have happened anywhere.

The hotel was handy and in a realitively quiet location, very central and easy to get to. We went to explore the area and the friendly staff were more than willing to hold our bags for us until check in.

The hotel was fresh and clean, very welcoming and inviting. The service was friendly and the staff were very willing to do anything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. I found the room to be comfortable and clean. However the stairs would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems.

The breakfast was second to none, and if you wished you could have it served in bed for no extra charge. Had a drink in the bar in the evening and enjoyed the atmosphere without it feeling too crowded.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone booking on a budget and I will definatly be visitng this establishment again.

I found this through trip advisor and thought it looked like an interesting modestly priced alternative to the other London hotels. I was very disappointed. It is located in a side street opposite a block of flats. Its style is retro - if retro means bare wooden floors and tables. There are lots of pubs in the area with lovely Victorian glass etc - this is the opposite. Our room was modest but at the top of two flights of narrow stairs up which i had to carry a 25kg case! The shower was almost impossible to adjust properly and the shower stall was minute. Officially the worst of many awful showers on this trip.
It advertises itself as a gastro pub and we had breakfast 2 mornings - most of the food was from a packet. The toast was white bread with no option. Everything arrived at once and the coffee was lousy. Still it was cheap and the girl who booked us in was friendly.

First, the hotel is so good it should get more business, but I don't want it all booked next time I'm in London.

I stayed at the Harrison two nights on my way in and one on the way out of Britain, mid-July and early August. I was there with my wife, and some friends going to the same event stayed there too.

The hotel, third floor, four rooms, with a pub on the ground floor, is run by the owner, who had no trouble with our arriving early and quite late respectively on both bookings. The staff, which is minimum, and himself, are very helpful and friendly. They will also tip you on London stuff if asked. When our friends had some trouble to leave on time for Heathrow, the owner was ready to help them with all the arrangements needed

Breakfast is enormous, filling and delicious, it kept me going for the rest of the day. We had the veggie option. A banquet. And you can order it to your room at no extra cost.

The rooms are very spacious compared to similar places, clean, not hospital-clean, but in really good shape, the beds are great and the bathrooms are small but not at all tiny. There is a TV with a DVD player, and a small number of movies available if you want to see them. You can make tea or coffee in your room.

Location: It's a short walk from Kings Cross, in a completely residential neighborhood, really quiet, I even got to see a red fox on the lawn in front. It is a healthy walk, maybe 20 minutes, to the British Museum (if you are a commited walker).

In all, I should compare the Harrison with other places I've stayed at in London. In common with others, steep stairs, small bathroom. Everything else is better. Best toilet paper ever, toiletries are excellent, Neutrogena, not the detergent like stuff I've seen elsewhere. The rooms are, again, really big for London standards. And it has a cozy, homely air that helps you rest better. Bedsheets, towels perfectly clean.

Mmh, you can tell I loved it.
