“Dining at its best”
Reviewed January 28, 2014 via mobile

I arranged dinner for my husband's 30th birthday after having visited the restaurant for an anniversary a few years ago. The food the staff and the atmosphere lived up to my recollection of excellence. Firstly the food was stunning, hard to be beaten with flavours that will last in my memory for a longtime time. The were staff attentive and friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. Whilst the bill may have been more than we would usually pay for dinner, the standard was excellent and overall good value. We had a lovely evening and will definitely visit again for another special occasion.

“Game at its best”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

Murano is always at the top of its game in all categories and Angela Hartnett is certainly the best female chef in London. We went in for an early dinner on Friday (<7:00) and were welcomed by staff without a reservation (NB Dont try this at 8:30 as it was full) Her menu is a multi-course affarir and you pay by the amount of courses so if you want just two plates you are not stuck paying for more but if you are hungry 4 plates is not a problem. During game season Angela shines. We had red leg partridge which was the best I have ever had.
Hint: leave room for the dessert as her souffle of the day is worth the wait ours was pistachio with hot chocolate sauce. The wine steward will walk you through their list or simply tell her (yes her) what you are eating and let her make a suggestion. If you can when you reserve request a table in the rear of the restaurant which has a picture window to the kitchen. It is like watching a well orchestrated ballet.

“A wonderful Italian influenced meal”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

I had dinner here with a friend just before Christmas. It is an intimate restaurant, which adds to the appeal. There was a buzzing, festive atmosphere and the service was excellent.
The oso bucco and risotto was superb. Just right for a winter's evening. My friend loved the cheese trolley. You could keep choosing and choosing...
The decoration is unusual but fitting with the name - the glass chandaliers are very funky!
The piece de resistance of this restaurant is their sommelier. Her wine choice was just stunning and matched our meal perfectly
I also thought it was very well priced at £65 for 3 courses - it is usual more than this in top London restaurants.
I am sure I will return, if only to try more of their wonderful wine list!

“A really lovely soirée”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

A meal at this delightful restaurant was a gift for a special birthday. We were welcomed and although Angela Hartnett was not there, the whole experience was wonderful. The 'House' red was lovely and as to be expected was served at a perfect temperature. The only negative was that the savoury dishes were all too salty for my palate, which was a shame. We are always told to put less salt into food and yet some restaurants can be rather heavy handed, which sadly leaves no room to manoeuvre. With a lighter touch in the kitchen, one could always add a little if one so chose to.
The dessert was simply divine. We both chose the pistachio soufflé, with chocolate sauce,, quite simply one of the nicest desserts that I have EVER eaten.

“Simply lovely”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

A lovely restaurant situated near to Piccadilly. We were very lucky to have been allocated one of the 2 tables with a view into the kitchen – this was something we had not experienced before and it was first class watching all the chefs at work. Eating at an establishment such as this does not come cheap but we have to say it was a wonderful evening - the ambiance and the food were first class. The staff were some of the friendliest we have encountered in a restaurant, no one was rushed and they had time to explain things and chat whilst not foregoing the attention to detail. The menu was varied with ample choice for all (2 courses £50, 3 courses £65, 4 courses £75 and 5 courses £85). It is possible to have as many courses as you can manage with the size of the portion depending on the number of courses you order. The “extras” of parmesan crisps and Serrano ham amongst other things were first class! There is an extensive wine list and although not cheap is not over priced. We certainly hope to return.
