“Beautiful setting, lovely food but....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2014

We went to The Foyer for dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant is lovely but is a lot smaller than the photos and I was glad to be seated in the main area, rather than off to the side. The food was very very good but no more than you would expect from a 5 star hotel restaurant and certainly at these prices. Now I am going to start sounding very picky. It just lacked any kind of ambience or atmosphere. I can't exactly state that anything was "wrong", it just lacked something. The service was adequate but not exceptional. It was all very nice, but not exceptional. And, of course, extremely expensive. Actually, I prefer The Savoy so if you are looking to celebrate a special occasion, I would go there.

Dear "Jo G",

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent dinner at Claridge's Foyer & Reading Room.

I was concerned to read that while you seem to have enjoyed yourself, it fell short of a perfect evening. We are very well known for the wonderful atmosphere in the Foyer & Reading Room, the live piano lending a great deal to this and I am very sorry that you did not feel it was as good as you had hoped.

We do hope that you return to Claridge's in the future.

Kind regards,

Eugene Leonard

“Excellent dinner in The Reading Room”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2014

Expensive but worth it as a special treat. We had dinner for two in the The Reading Room which is adjacent to The Foyer and served by the same kitchen. Managed to stay just under £150 for the two of us. The three course menu is £41 per person and offers plenty to choose from. Wine is expensive with the cheapest glass priced at £11. If you pick your meal from the a-la-carte menu you can spend >£100 per person easily. Food is of very high standard and spot on. You pay for the excellent service and atmosphere.

“Afternoon tea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2014 via mobile

I chose Claridge's as a special treat for my wife's birthday. We have been to the Ritz and other places for afternoon tea but I must say that this was the best experience so far. It may seem more expensive but the welcome, the service and just the feel of the place makes up for the additional cost, plus we choose to have the champagne option, which seemed fitting for the occasion. As with other reviews I agree that you are made to feel very relaxed and the staff were very attentive. We had extra sandwiches, picking our favourites and when we got to the cakes we struggled and so like a lot of others the staff kindly boxed these up which our girls at home appreciated! A fantastic experience, one which I intend to repeat, although this time I may have to take my daughters along! Many thanks Claridge's for a lovely afternoon. ps I really loved the Marco Polo jelly, which certainly beats the normal raspberry or strawberry jam.

Dear "Paul T",

Thank you for your very complimentary Afternoon Tea review.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your afternoon with us so much and that your daughters got the chance to experience a little of it too! You will certainly have to bring them along next time.

“Lovely Afternoon Tea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2014

The Foyer is beautiful and you get a really lovely experience when you have tea here. The service is great and the food is very good; even the china is very lovely.
We had tea here a couple of days after having tea at the Ritz, and I would say I enjoyed he Ritz more, but both are nice.

“Best dinner ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2014

The service was exceptional and the Art Deco surroundings were fabulous. All three courses were of the highest quality and exceedingly tasty. Dorrington Ham and Tarragon Fagottini starter was very, very nice. The Suffolk Chicken Breast with butternut squash puree and spelt was excellent and the Coconut and Maracaibo Chocolate Gateau was to die for. I can honestly , thoroughly recommend, the Foyer and Reading Room in Claridges to anyone who likes their little indulgences.
