“Really poor service and vile chips”

If you want to try real fish and chips don't eat here - seriously.

Years ago this used to be a good fish and chip shop. It absolutely isn't now.

We called in this afternoon for a quick bag of chips. Slightly surprised at how expensive it was but thought hey it's London and its supposed to be really good.

Was handed a polystyrene open carton with some old, tepid, dried out chips on it. We asked for it to be wrapped so we could take it away without spilling and the server handed us a tiny sheet of paper so we could try and do it ourselves.

I tasted a chip and it was revolting - old cold and stale. I said that we didn't want it because it tasted awful and the woman was completely unsurprised. She begrudgingly gave us our money back. A horrible experience and a horrible place. Don't go if you like fish and chips

“Overpriced, average quality”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

The sea shell has a reputation for being the best fish and chip shop in London, it isnt. It almost certainly is most expensive fish and chip shop in London. However, although by no means the best chip shop in London, it is better than so many. Poor quality fish and chips are truly disgusting and some of what is on sale in London is nasty, so if you are visiting London, I would recommend it as its easy to get to from the city centre. But be ready to pay a lot (£10 for a takeaway and £15 for a meal in the restaurant).

“Good value fish and chips.”

I went here with my son one evening this week. Decided to avoid the sit-down restaurant because £15 for cod is a bit expensive, I think. Anyway, we had calamari and chips in the take-away section, where you can in fact stay to eat your meal (standing up), so that is what we did. Our meals were £6.00 each. I'll go again.

Craving for big fat chips & butter haddock? This place serve very quality & reasonably price fish & chips. Thanks to the recommendation from a black cab driver. Had a take away from this shop after my shopping on my way back to hotel. Of course don't forget to get them a bag of chips too. :)

“fish and chips at it very very best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2012

As a Londoner living in the USA, where I have yet to find any American restaurant that has even the vaguest idea how to make real fish and chips, this is whats its all about. Try the Haddock and Chips and Mushy Peas. Wash down with a pint of Murphys as they dont do Guiness. If you eat in its not cheap, take away is much less, but you are getting the real McCoy. Note to all those useless American Faux pubs that call themselves British, send your chef on a weekend return to Lisson Grove London and see what makes English Fish & Chips!!
