We always drop by here when we stay nearby. There's a good selection of beers
The food is very good quality with excellent portions, we had ham, egg and chips & burger and chips this time - all washed down with decent wine at a reasonable price.
We'll be back next time for another chilled out lunch.

“Quality and Quantity”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

A group of us have a long-standing Christmas lunch which is traditionally held in either the City of London or the West End. This year we picked the Punch Bowl and were very pleased with our choice.

The Christmas lunch was based on a set menu, the whole process of choosing the various options was very straightforward and maybe more importantly, they were flexible.

On arriving at the Punch Bowl the atmosphere in the pub itself was perfect for us - we were largely alone at midday but as 1pm approached the pub had filled up nicely and we moved up to their private room.

The room easily fitted the 16 of us, and could comfortably take 20 or more. The room had a traditional feel which a large dining table and an integral small bar. Our waitress was a great blend of attentive and busy, and she made sure that we were looked after perfectly.

The food, though based on a traditional theme had various twists which were all successful. General feedback was very positive from the group. As far as my own personal choice was concerned the Foie Gras was delicious, the turkey was not that dry old bird you often find en masse - but a succulent serving that would grace your family table.

All in all our afternoon was fantastic and we finished off with a couple of cleansing ales in the pub afterwards. So if you are considering a venue for a group of you next Christmas, book early as we will be back there again next year.

“Pub lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

We went here for several reasons - the Guy Ritchie factor, the fact that it was around the corner from our hotel & the fact that it looked good and had reasonably priced food. Inside it's a typical English pub. The service was friendly & also kid-friendly. Only complaint might be that it seemed to take them a while to getting around to taking our order. Fish & chips were delicious - 10 more of the fries wouldn't have hurt though. The Burger was also good. It was pricey - family of 4 for lunch cost the same as dinner on New Year's Eve at restaurant in central London.

“Fantastic Pub and Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2013

A wonderful dinner: lamb, sausages, halibut. All set in a comfortable pub atmosphere where the tables are in proximity to the bar, but there is just enough distance for dinner to be a separate event from the folks just there to drink and chat. The staff were wonderful to us and while the starters were good, the treacle pudding was the best!

Highly recommended. And family friendly in the restaurant.
