Excellent value hotel, easy walk from Southwark tube station, also close to some bus routes. So well placed to get to local attractions, hotel well placed for Tate et al. in any event.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Buffet breakfast very good and unlimited. They' ve now got these "phat" porridge pots as part of the buffet, which I think is something new at Travelodge. It made a delicious, creamy porridge.
The room looked as if it had been recently refurbished, so everything was working, very clean, bright and gleaming.
There was a proper Toshiba air conditioner unit in my room with remote. It wasn't noisy and worked well, but it was essential, as the windows do not open.

Room Tip: I stayed in the first room I was given for about 10 minutes. As soon as I walked in I realized my wi...

Thanks for your review Y Bwchan, we’ve just finished freshening up our whole hotel with a full makeover, including our brand new ‘Travelodge Dreamer’ pocket sprung kingsize bed.

Lots more of our hotels will be getting our new look this year, so it’s really good to hear that you enjoyed your stay.

This is a review that doesn't live up to "you get what you pay for".
39£ in London for 3 people is a bargain.
Very close to southwark tube and clean as well.bar and food inside relatively well priced... Rooms more than adequate..clean and new.
Next door is a lovely cafe with excellent food on offer. 5 mins from Tate modern and the river
I recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget but still wants quality and cleanliness .

This Travelodge delivers in most respects and it is more modern and less shabby than some TLs I have stayed in. The problem here is the cooked breakfast - luke warm, limited choice and over-cooked. A visit to any Premier Inn will put the breakfast at this Travelodge into context. Yet the prices are almost the same

We stayed at this Travelodge 20th to 22nd April 2013 in room 302, and as per your previous reviewer, we had the trains passing our window, but we too were not disturbed, indeed it was quite interesting. Importantly, we had the view of the Shard, and it was beautifully lit at night. Our room was adequate, bare essentials, but bed very comfy and room very clean. Staff very helpful, good hotel for short stays & would have no hesitation in staying there again. Also position good, near Millenium Bridge, Thames activities, Southwark Tube Station, Carlo's cafe next door for breakfast, etc. [good coffee]. We enjoyed our stay in busy London during the Marathon very much.

Room Tip: Corner rooms, ours was 302, and hotel has 7 floors so go higher for better view of Shard

We stayed in room 402 overlooking railwayline which at first we thought OH dear!! but to our surprise it did not disturb our sleep at all, and the view from our window overnight was fantastic showing the Chard all lit up. We can not fault the staff at all they were all friendly efficient and polite and there for all our needs. Room clean and functional. And the are was very central for all our needs. We would definitly stay there again . If you are looking for a clean friendly place to stay to visit london you will not go far wrong, they also do a breakfast, which we did not get to try, but it was nice to have the choice. Well done travelodge.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Go for one Fourth floor or above for best views

We booked in advance and got a family room for £35 per night (two adults and three kids). The room was clean, quiet and spacious. Was surprised with the free wi-fi (75mb per day limit). We got breakfast on the second day - £7.60 for one adult and two kids. All you can eat of buffet cooked breakfast, loads of cereals, juices etc.
Just across the road is the Lord Nelson pub which did fantastic good value food and huge servings. £30 fed all five of us royally. If you like ale they also have Greene King IPA which is really good.
The location is very nice - two mins walk from the Southwark tube and plently of cafes and shops which benefit from being in an up and coming but not touristy area. Would defineatly stay again!
