Visited here at end of February with a colleague. We had an ordinary chicken curry and a very ordinary fish curry with a few beers and a price tag of £70. The staff were very friendly and polite, but the restaurant has seen better days and there are better places to eat in the streets surrounding as we found out later.

Went with my daughter. The waiter was friendly but the vegetable korma consisted of a pleasant enough sauce with a few lumps of grey potato and about two peas! Would it really have been so hard for them to put in a few decent vegetables?
The bill was ridiculously expensive for what we had.

Met up with an all male group of friends in Victoria for a drink and a curry and decided on Spicy World because of location and the 'owner' coming outside to greet us. The initial experience was ok beers and papadums were good then we ordered and the mains came. The overall quality of food was poor, really nothing special, I have 2 friends that regularly eat madras curry and they couldn’t eat it as it was so spicy (1 medium and 1 mild) the rest of the food was a disappointment. When the bill came that was a surprise, just under £200 for 6 people. I had 2 papadums, the worst fish curry I have ever had, rice, a small naan bread and 2 large bottles of beer for over £30.00. Not good value.

The staff certainly cannot be accused of being inattentive! Indeed, what was supposed to be a pleasant meal felt more like a constant invigilation. Their smiles betrayed malevolence and the portions were miserly to say the least. The kebab consisted of 3 or 4 pieces of meat which looked like they had been given the microwave treatment, and the food was way overpriced. The toilets were dirty and bizarrely situated next to a kitchen/dungeon which was home to some weird washing rituals. I mean, do you really want your wife to see a man with his shirt off throwing water over his body as she makes her way to the toilet? I guessed not, so give this place a wide berth. Even the high commercial rents that restauranteurs have to face are no excuse for this hellhole's abject failings.
