This was the first time we have been to The Wilmington and it was a very good experience. Both food and service was good. The starter of scallops peas and ham was piping hot and great flavour. The scallops were cooked perfectly. We had the Sunday lunch menu and the belly pork was again very well cooked, hot with the best Yorkshire puddings I've ever had. Well done to all the staff for good service as well. We will certainly return if we are in the area again. Great value for money.

Hiya, thanks for your great review. We have changed the scallop dish to ‘Seared scallops, Yorkshire rhubarb, baby leeks, ginger’, which tastes sublime. We still have the popular Roast Pork Belly with giant Yorkshires and the best jus in London! Be sure to visit again soon. Regards, Johnny

We had Sunday lunch before going to a matinée at Sadler's Wells. The roast beef was delicious and the massive Yorkshire puddings stole the show. The service was friendly and attentive. I don't like restaurants automatically adding service to the bill but I would definitely have tipped anyway because the whole experience was great. I hope to go back next time we are in London.

I should start by saying it was really easy to make reservations for this place online which is always a plus.

I went for Sunday lunch with a friend and it was lovely. It was a bit pricey but it was a decent roast. There are better in London but this is the best in the area. There is a great menu and they have prosecco on tap which is a winner.

The puddings are a real treat so try and leave room.

Hey, thanks so much for the review. Glad you really enjoyed the roast. My head chef has just created a new recipe for his already amazing Yorkshires, so my challenge to you is to try the roast again and if it’s not the best in London, I’ll shout you a pint on me! Look forward to seeing you back here at the Wilmington for our little wager. Kind regards, Johnny

Chanced across this lovely gem when staying nearby in the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury. As we had our two children ( age 8 and 10) with us we were worried that they wouldn't let us in/ be suitable. In fact they were more than welcoming and we really enjoyed our meal. The kids ate some simpler versions of the main meals, the service was exceptional and it had a great choice of ales and wine. It isn't super cheap but it is so worth every penny! Thanks Wilmington, wish you were nearer.

Thanks for the review. We are indeed family and children friendly, and even though we don’t have a children’s menu, we can do any dish at a children’s size and price, and more than happy to accomodate. If you get a chance to visit London again, please pop in, we’d love to see you back in The Wilmington. Regards, Johnny

Recently went for drinks….great selection of drinks with very few of the big brands on offer (lots of independents and micro breweries, which is a plus for me!). Most importantly, service from the bar staff was brilliant…very difficult to find good bar staff in this city!!
I will be returning!!!
