“Fantastic”

It's never great eating alone when you are business. But this place was great, friendly but not over bearing. I ordered things I knew the name of, but thanks to the friendly staff they changed ny order and give me two lovely dishes that I would have never tried.

Close to hotel (Tune) not too busy and decent value for money.

A great way to spend a winter Sunday lunch. Great food and service. Tastes were exceptional. Highly recommended Appetiser Platter, Duck in beer Sauce and Whole Sea Bass in black pepper

“Best Sichuanese in London”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2014

This place is brilliant for anyone that appreciates Sichuan food. I'm a huge fan of Sichuan food and have been to a few places, most notably Bar Shu.

This chef at Sichuan Folk used to work at Bar Shu before setting up this place. I much prefer this place to Bar Shu, the staff are much friendlier and helpful, it's cheaper and far more relaxed. I also think the menu is better.

The Signature dumplings are incredible, possibly the best i've ever had. We had to order another portion, couldn't get enough of them.

Another must is the twice cooked pork, another of their signature dishes, but I doubt there is a bad dish on the menu.

If you have a passion for sichuan food this is the place you want to be, there is no need to go anywhere else, I will be back for those dumplings very soon.

“Excellent food, excellent service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2014

The food here was good - full of flavour and a decent price. The heat is turned down compared to authentic Sichuan food but you can ask for it hotter / more chilli oil.

The service was absolutely excellent. We were talked through the menu and the best dishes recommended, the vegetarians were well looked after and they even offered to replace any dishes they recommended that we didn't like for free (needless to say, they were all brilliant).

Overall - highly recommend! Get the dumplings, twice cooked pork, kings prawns, chilli beef, and the aubergine and mushroom starters.

“Unexceptional”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2014

The Appetiser Platter at £13.80 to start was a let down….. overpriced and underwhelming. Menu says “ dishes may vary” ….. two of our starters were some fried peanuts and some very dry slices of meat. Ho hum.

Stir fried kidneys and a pork dish were ok but by far the best thing we had was the cold tripe salad. Fresh, punchy, hot, well balanced, good textures….a nice surprise.

I suspect the menu has two types of food ….. dumbed down safe food for cautious diners….. and possibly some things which are much more interesting (like the tripe salad)

If you go I suggest you ask the waiters for recommendations…. be sure to tell them that you eat anything, are adventurous with food and you would like to know what they would order if they were ordering dinner for themselves.

So….three stars based on the meal I had but with some careful ordering it may be a lot better…….
