“Family-run, very child-friendly, welcoming restaurant”
Review of Il Cavaliere

Il Cavaliere
Ranked #3,268 of 24,250 Restaurants in London
Cuisines: Italian
Description: Il Cavaliere is now a well-known restaurant in the local area and beyond. It is popular with pre match Arsenal supporters who attend home games on a regular basis and travel from far and wide, on these occasions Il Cavaliere provides a special Match day menu (link) which includes an impressive brunch menu for the earlier kick off times. Advance bookings for home games days are recommended. The restaurant is recognised as venue to find very good quality home cooked food, at very reasonable prices and is fully licensed until 2am . The food is prepared and cooked to order (and sometimes served) by Antonio the Chef and his assistant Verona, hence the atmosphere is at most times quite relaxed and customers are not rushed, but care is taken to ensure customers are well looked after with enough of their own space in their time out. Time is taken to prepare food and consider the customer's preference; customers who come to Il Cavaliere understand this ethic and enjoy it. Il Cavaliere has a good wine list (link) and offer a variety and review of new or popular wines. Many parties and events are catered for, from birthdays, family reunions, engagements, funerals and weddings to mention a few. Catering is undertaken on site in the restaurant and on site at chosen venues, please see the catering page (link) on this website. Antonio personally project manages these events and is open to consultation. The food is sourced from quality suppliers and Antonio imports some of the local produce from his local commune in Calabria, such as Italian salami, pepperoni, peperoncini, wine and some cheeses, which he delights in sharing with the customers. We hope you will visit us and experience the 'Sapori di Mediterranei' at Il Cavaliere.

Arrived on a rainy evening after attending the circus at Finsbury Park - 4 mums with 5 tired and hungry kids. We were a bit apprehensive at first, wondering if the place was too smart and formal for a group of children, but we couldn't have been welcomed more warmly or given more care and attention. The pizzas and pastas we ate were delicious, and dishes were altered for young fussy eaters. Staff were so attentive, including the wonderful chef who came out to talk to all of us, and kids were all offered plenty of apple juice on the house! Prices incredibly reasonable. We would definitely make an effort to come back. A real find! Cannot recommend more highly.

Beautiful tasty italian food and plenty of it. Reasonably priced. Chef very friendly and made a point of coming front of house to talk to the customers. We had a lovely meal. Just one recommendation - could do with adding some rose wines to wine list. Plenty of choice if you like red, white or sparkling but no rose on offer. Would definitely go back if ever in this area again

Blackstock road has a plethora of restaurants offering grat value food, but few can match the quality on offer here.

My wife and I visited this place quite early on a Friday night and were a bit dubious to begin with as we were the only people there, but put that down to our timing.

Our worries wee soon allayed when we are given bread and a very tasty olive and garlic mixture while we chose our food.

The menu has a lot of options and Antonio the owner also had several tantalizing specials to choose from.

I went for the fresh squid and spaghetti special and my wife and ravioli with chicken and ham. Both meals were exquisite and were the up there with the best Italian food we've had outside Italy.

Having chatted briefly with the owner we discovered this is one of the original Italian restaurants of the area along with San Daniele.

Having eaten at most places on Blackstock road, I can safely say that this is one of the best and we'll definitely be visiting again soon.

We were so pleased to find this still here as we used to eat here weekly 20 years ago! Although a different owner, there was a link to the family we knew, and we spent our evening chatting happily with the chef/owner. Food as good as ever. Shame more people don't discover it as it is only minutes from Finsbury Park Tube but slightly off the main eating area. We hope to return earlier than another 20 years!

If you want some authentic Italian home-made food, this is where you want to be. Though often quiet due to its location off the main track, the chef and owner has enjoyed a reputation for outstanding food at very reasonable prices with the locals for many years. Even with starter and wine we never manage to spend much more than £20.
