“Wobbly start”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Our visit got off to a wobbly start when I rested a hand on the table and it lurched drunkenly to one side - the lurch being so pronounced we decided not to have a go at curing the problem ourselves with a folded up beermat. Yet that's exactly what the waitress did when we pointed out the problem - she spent a good five minutes trying to level the table, something she gets a lot of practice at judging by the packing at the feet of all the tables around us!

It was a mid-week evening and the place was maybe half full - but it took a good 15 minutes before our drinks arrived, and at least another 30 minutes before our meals arrived. Both the drinks and the food were well worth waiting for, however, and we rather liked the overall laid-back atmosphere of the pub. Just don't go there on a busy night if you're hungry!

“Lovely pubby pub with great food”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

Went here last night as my elderly father can hobble this far from home and was really pleasantly suprised. Warm, welcoming and clean and tidy. Great service from smiley people and good honest grub - brilliant menu thats pretty huge. Most enjoyable.

“Terrible”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

Simply terrible. The group of 6 of us had to wait 2 hrs for a roast, a shepherds pie and a couple of burgers. The service was ok however the real problems started when we got the food as it was all cold. The burger buns had been switched and 1 burger had 2 bottoms the other 2 tops. The meat was cheap and the tomato was enormous. The shepherds pie was all mash. Crackling was forgotten.
Having politely complained we were then told the chef was drunk and we weren't the only table who'd had problems.. We weren't charged for the above but were then given a free promotional drink that the pub had been sent and on leaving we were shouted at by the drunk chef who was smoking on the street. All in all a rubbish experience. Living round the corner I would strongly recommend going to the Scarsdale on Edwardes Square (if you can get a table). A great pub with great food.

“Excellent Pub in Kensington”
Reviewed February 6, 2013 via mobile

Having walked past this pub many times we thought it was time to give it a try. As we walked in the door we were greeted with a friendly smile from the barman and made to feel very welcome. The menu was comprehensive and uncomplicated. The waiter Jason gave excellent service and was attentive and friendly without being obtrusive.
We enjoyed an excellent meal in lovely surroundings and would not hesitate to recommend this lovely old pub to anyone who wants to enjoy an English pub experience.
