We stayed at the Coach House BB May 2012 it is so much better than a hotel room why would you want a little room when you can have your own private coach house. Darling little hidden2 floor coach house with a kitchen. Our hosts Harley & Meena were geat and oh the wonderful breakfasts and conversations with them. They are a wealth of knowledge of the area, we had no problems getting to any locations used the local tube and train. Harley thanks for the tip to go to Borough market it was great. www.rentals.chslondon.com
Thanks again Vermilion Ohio group

We decided to use this service as an alternative to staying in a hotel because we wanted the option of cooking meals at home and bringing home leftovers from restraunts. We were originally supposed to have 3 adults in our group and the large majority of hotels did not offer 2 bedrooms meaning al adults would be sleeping in the same room. Also finding rooms for 3 adults without only having 3 twin size beds was very difficult and very expensive. The reservation process was a bit confusing and there was a lot of back and fourth conversation and a few mix ups. Overall everything turned out great and we got the exact 2 bedroom flat we wanted in central london. Our flat was a short 5 min walk from the nearest underground tube station which was great. One suggestion I would make depending on where you stay is to try to figure out the tube route from the airport to your london flat so you dont have to spend 65 pounds on a cab when you can grab an oyster card and use it for the length of your stay in london. The flat itself was great, it wasent the most emaculant place but it was very comfortable and for 2 people we had pleanty of room. There was a broken mirror in the livingroom and the bed wasent very comfortable but we got great sleep anyway. The flat did not have very many t.v. Channels and when you found one you liked it only worked part of the time due to it being free t.v. Rater than satelite or cable. The bathroom was clean and comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with all the utensils for eating and cooking. Overall I would absolutly reccomend this option over a hotel and the price was great. The ataff was friendly to deal with especially Rose which met us at the jouse to show us the ins and outs. She was very sweet and very informative. She made us feel very welcomed.

After many hours searching Tripadvisor for accommodation in London, I stumbled across The Coach House and am so glad that I did. This place is a real gem because you have your own little cottage which enables you to be fully self contained and independent. We are a family of 4 and loved returning to the cottage after a hectic day of sightseeing in London. We stayed for 5 nights. The Coach House is in a very quiet street and has it's own key and side entrance, so you can come and go as you please without imposing on anyone. Furthermore, when you make a booking you are the only people to be booked in...so you have your own home away from home!

Some information that might be useful:
The Coach House is located in Zone 3 - we purchased a 7 day travel card, as opposed to worrying about an Oyster card, which enabled us to have unlimited travel on the tubes and buses within zones 1-3, the children were free because they were under 10 years if age,

The Tube is less than 8 minutes walk away, it takes approximately 25 minutes to get to Victoria station (central location in London),

You can catch an overland train to Victoria station for a different experience, it took 15 minutes,

There are plenty of shops around Balham. We shopped at Sainsbury's at the end of the day and carried our groceries back to The Coach House, very easy! Because you get breakfast included in the tarrif you only need to purchase food for dinner and to pack lunches; however, if you would rather eat out every night you will find many options from casual dining to more expensive dining,

There is a laundromat nearby (there isn't a washing machine or dryer at The Coach House) and for two bags of washing it cost £12... we dropped the washing off on the way to the tube and picked it up in the afternoon on the way home. Alternatively, you can stay there and do your own,

In conclusion, our time in London was wonderful and this is in part due to the fantastic accommodation and hospitality of your hosts, Harley and Meena. The porridge that Meena prepares is as good as previous reviews state. My husband and children loved the porridge..which was a small miracle because they have always refused to eat porridge if I ever made it!

If you are looking for a place that isn't a cramped and sterile hotel room that lacks character, that is within easy access to the main sites of London and enables you to experience London like a local, then
this is the place for you!

We chose to stay in The Coach House because I was attending a course nearby and my husband needed to be able to work on the computer. The B & B is situated in a residential, cosmopolitan area, 7 mins walk from Balham Tube, with an easy journey into central London. Other contributors have given good descriptions, so just to say it worked for us. We chose to do our own breakfast, just gave Harley the details of our preferences and everything was supplied, in good quantity and quality. It was like having our own little cottage. There are good quality restaurants within 10 mins walking, a variety of cuisines, French, Italian, Nepalese, etc. The location was beautifully quiet at night, I'm a light sleeper. There is parking on the street outside for a charge of £5.50/day. The internet connection worked beautifully, so I had a happy husband. The shower is a quirky but once mastered worked fine. The stairs are steep up to the main bedroom and I would be worried if I had young children. If you want to travel around London but avoiding big, noisy, impersonal hotels, you couldn't find better.

We are a familiy of 5 persons and stayed for 6 nights at the coach house. We and our children enjoyed our stay. Best of all is the breakfast served by Meena in her kitchen and the wonderful conversation with her and Harley. Harley gave us excellent proposals for our tours. The tube is very close and it was very comfortable to reach all the places we wanted to see.
