I had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful establishment yet again. I took my 16 year old son for lunch a special treat for doing well in his exams. He absoluty loved it as did i. I cannot fault any part of the meal and the service is fabulous. I had the great pleasure of meeting chef who took time out to have a chat with us. Lunch set menu is fantastic value for money and I would highly recommend it. I note other comments about the staff here but what i would say is if you talk to the staff they are very pleasant i think perhaps other people have found them unfriendly because they themselves are being unfriendly. Cannot fault this wonderful place.

The food at the square is sublime and the service is immaculate. My only complaint is that the restaurant lacks atmosphere so try and get a table by the window oh and take someone who can pay for you, it certainly isn't cheap!

Title hopefully says it all, had dinner at The Square we had the tasting menu with matching wines

+ves
Attentive, speedy service despite being busy
Lively buzzy atmosphere made conversation easy
7 out 9 courses were stunning gastronomic masterpieces
Sommelier was brilliant, informative, wine selections were fantastic and intriguing and very generous servings - comparitively good value in reality

-Ves
service (other than sommelier) was very cold and stiff
Scallops were tough and not pleasant, complaint was made nothing was done
John dory was served on a dirty plate complaint was made again nothing was done other than a meek acknowledgment.
Decor is a little lack lustre but food generally makes up to it

Overall i would give it an 8.9 out of 10, by way of comparison, similar meals ive had at other 2* restaurants Midsummer house would be 9.3 and Marcus Wareing at the Berkely would be 9.6.

The Square so good but a little let down by the details.

The square has always been one of my favourite michelin star restaurants since I first stepped into it in 2011. Revisiting it in 2013 was great as the menu was different and new from what it was a year half back, yet still keeping some of the lovely signature dishes.

Was yet another amazing experience. Just found one of the waiters who serve us unwelcoming. Aside that, food was yet again excellent!

The restaurant lacks the wow factor. Food is good, but nothing special, especially given the price. To be fair, the menu was not to my taste, and friends who have been raved about the place.
