The location, near the gorgeous St. Pancras Eurostar Terminus, is wonderful. The tube stop is there, as are dozens of places to eat, pharmacy, clothing and book stores -- great for a rainy day. Our well designed room had a comfortable bed, nice ambiance. Clean, well decorated. Great value for money -- good-sized room for a big city. Ample closet and drawer space. Some front desk people were fantastic -- very helpful and proactive.
However, the furnishings and carpets are getting worn. Bathtub/shower is dangerously designed -- huge step up to get into tub, lots of glass everywhere. Wifi was intermittent -- kept crashing, despite help from hotel personnel to reset it. Elevators broke twice during our 5 day stay. That meant some of us dragged heavy suitcases down five flights of stairs. I heard a guest ask for compensation for the repeated elevator problems and she was brushed off by the reception manager.
Some front desk people had difficulty communicating in English (but this is surprisingly true throughout England). Restaurant was mediocre for our breakfast, but we were a very large group on a busy weekend morning, and the staff seemed harried. Prices in the restaurant are okay, but you can find lots of choices for breakfast at St. Pancras Station.More
