“Good place to stay in London without the high prices”
Reviewed September 19, 2013 via mobile

We recently stayed 3 nights at the Palm Hotel and found it to be a good base to explore London from. The hotel has ample car parking to the front and rear although it is situated on a really busy dual carriage way. The nearest tube station is Golders Green which will cost £5-6 in a taxi to get to. From there it's about 20-25mins to the centre of London. The rooms are of a decent size and nicely decorated. We had a room at the front overlooking the road but with the windows closed the noise wasn't too bad. Breakfast was excellent with plenty choice all of which was good quality. We ate in the hotel one night and again enjoyed it. The evening meals aren't too badly priced although as you'd expect you pay a little extra for the drinks. There isn't anything in the way of nightlife in the immediate area but it would definitely be a place we'd recommend if you don't want to pay the high prices of the city hotels. The daily all day pass on the trains/underground cost £11 each and so overall it was very good value for money.

This was a business trip, room was very clean. Staff helpful, wouldn't come for a romantic night away but as a business trip this was ideal. Bar prices reasonable, great. The bus service into town is regular and reasonable priced. Has wifi in rooms.

Room Tip: I didn't use the restaurant, but has a nice bar, friendly staff.

We stayed here to make it easier for ourselves to get to St Pancras in the morning for the Eurostar and it worked out perfectly. Seriously, if you are considering going somewhere for just one evening for similar reasons, go here. There was a fault with the key card machine when we arrived but this isn't any fault of the hotel staff and considering it was a Sunday they still took the time to walk us to our room more than once.
The room was great and really is a credit to whoever furnished it as it was quite possibly the smartest room I've ever stayed in, the bathroom is also a delight. We were also allowed to order pizza to the room so there's another bonus. Dominos will deliver so remember that if you cannot be bothered to check out the area.

Room Tip: If you walk from Cricklewood station to the hotel, be careful with wheeled suitcases coming down the...

Arrived to check in at 6pm to be told 5 rooms inc ours had been flooded and were un available so we would be transferred to The Brittania Hotel in Hampstead (really Chalk Farm as it turned out). Suspected Hotel may have been overbooked. Anyway hotel paid for a transfer cab and as we were short on time then to attend an event at Wembley agreed to ferry us on to concert. Hotel looked reasonable for price for the little we saw of it but it is on a VERY busy 6 lane road and suspect quite noisy. Bus 113 from Marble Arch/Marylebone (20mins) stops opposite & passes by Finchley Rd/Frognal Overground. Come out of hotel turn right & right again at crossroads for a couple of busses to Golders Green Station or walk for about 15 mins.

The Palm Hotel was fine, the food was good, the breakfast set you up for a day in in London. We were visiting London to wave a friend off on the Round the World Clipper Race. We arrived Friday lunch time too early to check in, we parked the car and headed to town on the bus, very handy due to Parking in town. On return in the evening we checked in, our room was an attick room with Velox Window, tea/coffee provided, nice shower and loo plus internet connection, phone & desk. They were the positives, we found the place to be noisey other guests were not considerate, one playing music quite loud at 3am, another couple arguing, noise from the air con was quite loud so it was either close the window and be hot or have it open and listen to the air con switching on and off, maybe a room on the front might be better but then there would be traffic noise from a very busy Hendon Way. When we stayed there were two functions on on the Sat & Sun evenings, I would suggest rooms to the right of the building maybe quieter. I would stay again but would want to choose where the room was situated.

Room Tip: Choose room to the right of the building first floor on the front.

very average hotel, not the best hotel for a couples weekend away, would be more suited for business rather than pleasure. Room was nice and clean bathroom a little small and is right next to a busy road. Breakfast not worth £12, but had a lovely breakfast 15 walk away at the bus station cafe at golders green for £4.

Stayed at this hotel on the 7th September and was very impressed with it.This hotel was amazing value and the room was amazing. It had recently been refurbished, and everything was incredibly clean and new. The room was a very good size, with steps down to the bedroom, and the bathroom was clean and had everything and more you needed in it. Shower was good quality and was very happy to stay here. The staff were all incredibly friendly, and the breakfast was a cooked breakfast even though we thought it was just a cold buffet. Am very impressed with how good value this was.
The only slight issue was how it was away from the tube station, although this can't be helped. To walk it takes a good 15 minutes, but it is well worth it as you wouldn't be able to find such a well kept, clean hotel in London at this price.
Definately worth a stay.
