One of our last evenings in London, and we hadn't had good shepherd's pie, so we decided to try The Windmill. We got there rather early on a week night, and got a comfortable table by the window. We ordered at the bar, as is often the way with food in London. My husband and I shared a great shepherd's pie; it took a few minutes to get our food, but was well worth it, as the dish was too hot to eat, fresh out of the oven. The potatoes that top it don't seem to be home made, more of the boxed variety, yet they were fine, as the gravy was great, and the meet very tender and flavorful. We enjoyed every bite, and were glad we shared the dish, as it was very rich and filling.
The pub is cozy and lends itself to drinks and conversation. As the night went on, it became rather busy, so if you want a prime table,go a bit early, relax and enjoy The Windmill.
