Description: Pies are our passion, our Steak & Kidney pie has even recently won a shiny, new award from the very prestigious, Great British Pie Awards (March 2017). Our famously, British menu boasts a variety of seasonally suited pies. Freshly home-made each morning, our suet pastry and potato topped pies are packed full of only the best, locally sourced ingredients. All of which can be washed down with up to 8 cask ales, a wide selection of craft beers or a glass of wine or two. Our ‘Secret Garden’ is ideally situated on our hidden roof terrace offering our guests an idyllic spot to dine alfresco, soak up the sunshine and relax. Along with our dedicated pie rooms and cosy bar, The Windmill pub is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the West End.

One of our last evenings in London, and we hadn't had good shepherd's pie, so we decided to try The Windmill. We got there rather early on a week night, and got a comfortable table by the window. We ordered at the bar, as is often the way with food in London. My husband and I shared a great shepherd's pie; it took a few minutes to get our food, but was well worth it, as the dish was too hot to eat, fresh out of the oven. The potatoes that top it don't seem to be home made, more of the boxed variety, yet they were fine, as the gravy was great, and the meet very tender and flavorful. We enjoyed every bite, and were glad we shared the dish, as it was very rich and filling.
The pub is cozy and lends itself to drinks and conversation. As the night went on, it became rather busy, so if you want a prime table,go a bit early, relax and enjoy The Windmill.

Hi cupcake (Can I call you cupcake?), Glad you enjoyed the Shepherd pie, a pretty wholesome choice especially in this hot weather. The potatoes are home made I promise you. In fact I didn’t even know that you could get boxed mash?

A mate who had lived in London strongly recommended we go here for a pie. He said "the best pies in London". We can only agree. My Shepherd's Pie was sensational. There's nothing too pretentious about the place; just a nice pub with comfortable restaurant seating. In a small side street in heart of Mayfair. The sign on the window - "The Art of Pie Excellence" - doesn't over-promise. Great spot for lunch.

Great menu items, interesting beers on tap and pretty good staff. It's very close to Regent St so handy for lunch or evening meals without the usual rash of corporate or overpriced menu of other nearby places. It's well worth finding

As you say, we’re close to Regent Street but not in the ‘mad throng’ of the busier streets of Soho and Oxford Street and therefore don’t just rely on tourists. Yep, quality and value is the name of the game for us!

Great steak and mushroom pie. Mash could have been creamier and warmer but not a massive issue. Great selection of lagers. Really great. Would definitely recommend.

First time I had the Steak & Kidney Pie. This is the place to try it... they are award winners. The atmosphere was typical of an English Pub Restaurant. Comfortable and loud! People were truly having a great time. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Service very fine.
