“Busy spot”

Visited here recently and had a good night out. Very busy establishment and would recommend making a booking. Menu is varied with a strong bias to American fare - somewhat overpriced but good food and service.

“A Nice Place to Eat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

Having never been to this particular area of London before, I was looking forward to seeing what I was missing. The Hill is located on Haverstock Hill between Chalk Farm and Belsize Park and is a lovely venue, with a secluded seated area to the side.

The weather held up and we were able to sit outside, giving us the near freedom of the place, allowing us to conduct our genial conversation without interruption.

The food was of a good standard, and the service extremely friendly, but unobtrusive. I would definitely go again and sample more from their menu. The Hill is not exactly cheap, but considering where it's based prices are reasonable.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

This was our first visit to The Hill as we were heading to a concert at The Roundhouse that evening. It's a 5-10 minute walk from The Roundhouse so a great place to eat or drink if you are going to a concert.

We arrived early for our 5:30 booking because it was raining heavily but we were warmly greeted and shown to our table straight away (to be fair at that point we were the only ones in, but the service was really good).

The food was all good with the exception of the main course - Fillet Steak with Chips and Peppercorn Sauce on the side. The reason for this being the exception is that it was simply sublime. A decent size, beautifully cooked medium rare it was melt in the mouth delicious.

As it was a Tuesday night they had a special offer on of 50% off bottles of wine - decent deal. Even better the Monday night offer was 50% off steaks. Do check that these are still running if you want to make use of them.

The service from Patricia, our Portuguese waitress, was excellent throughout.

“Just simply - great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

We went to this restaurant for my birthday on Thursday 15 August. What a treat!! We had not been to this restaurant before and visited on the previous Sunday to look at the location and see what it was actually like! The staff were so helpful and made sure that the table allocated to us (there were 10 people) was just right!
On the evening, we arrived before our guests and the waiter assigned (Stewart - a complete gem!) was brilliant!! Even to the point of making sure that the drinks we ordered arrived just as our guests were arriving!!
The food could not be faulted - I had the prawns (and they were huge) with oysters and although this was not exactly an item on the menu, Stewart, of course, said that this combination would not be a problem! The prawns were the largest I have ever seen! And the oysters were sublime! My guests also commented that their starters were equally delicious. However, I must say that my Sirloin Steak (served with French fries) was absolutely lovely and served just right! Stewart even brought up mayo for the fries without my even asking!!!! other comments from my guests were that the Ribs were the best ever and the Ultimate Burger was just a complete hit!
Desserts were just as good and although I don't like a fuss and made sure my family did not "surprise" me with a birthday cake, Stewart brought me a Lemon Sorbet with a candle in. Really nice touch!!!! and the sorbet was lovely as well!!!
All in all, a really lovely place which has a great atmosphere and even better food. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Oh - by the way, when you visit - check out the pianist and that's all i'll say about that!!!!

“Great food, great atmosphere, great bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2013

This is a fantastic little restaurant just up from The Roundhouse. It is very spacious and the staff are very friendly. The menu is quite extensive for a pub and they have daily specials, expect to pay a little more than usual but with restaurant standard food this is to be expected. Eaten here on several occasions and it is always a treat, worth seeking out
