Spent one night in room 707. This is on the top floor of the 'main' hotel. The room was tiny, the furniture rickety, the floor squeaked very loudly on every step and the ceiling was low around the bed due to the attic windows. The bedding was clean but the base of the bed was off its castors and had black mould growing around the bottom. Didn't really want to look too closely but the room was not as clean as it should be all round. The bath had no plug, there was a shower nozzle but no shower curtain, the water pressure was poor. The most troubling thing for us was the fire doors were permanantly wedged open and in the event of a fire this could be dangerous. There were no working lifts available and some people had to struggle with heavy suitcases up badly carpeted stairs.
On the plus side the breakfast was basic but plentiful, fresh bread, ham and cheese, jams, cereal, juice, tea and coffee. Location very handy for tube station and a cheap secure(ish) carpark on site which is fairly rare for London. The staff were friendly and pleasant enough but I got the impression that they knew that people were not happy with the accomodation offered..

Room Tip: avoid this hotel altogether

Before I start I should say that this was a very reasonable priced hotel and the new refurbed rooms are decorated very nicely.
HOWEVER... the bed in our room was terribly uncomfortable and squeaked very loudly which combined with the lads weekend party staying above us was not conducive to a good nights sleep and we actually felt quite ill the next day because of this and struggled to enjoy our day. The bedding was dirty when we arrived which obviously didn't contribute to a romantic mood and the sink leaked the whole time we were there. We asked to move rooms but were told this was the best they had.
One positive we picked up on is that the tv actually swivels to a watchable position as opposed to some places where you have to be stood up to see the tv.
Breakfast was what you pay for, lots of notices everywhere telling you not to under any circumstances change the settings on the toasters which would have been fine except everyone ended up with cremated toast. My advice would be to avoid the crowds and get a cheap breaky elsewhere.
Agree completely with the comments on customer services, after a 4 hour drive through traffic we were not greeted and made to wait longer than necessary. No apologies and no courtesy.

We had a very lovely trip in london but unfortunately little of this was due to the hotel!

There were two receptionists on duty when we arrived, neither of them greeted us, they just gave us a check-in form to fill in while they argued with each other quite publicly over work issues. The rooms were ok, beds clean (cleaned daily) but room could do with a bit of updating. Paint peeling off the wall in places, squeaky (and slightly sticky) wooden floors. Bathroom is very old looking and there was a few ants walking along the floor. Great, quiet location being just 5 mins walk to Finsbury Park tube station and close to a few shops, pubs and restaurants/take-aways. Breakfast is cheese/ham, bread and cereal.

My expectations weren't high given the price we paid but the staff really need some training in customer care, they all seemed to be eastern European so maybe they don't care about the reputation of England's welcome to tourists but whoever owns/manages the hotel needs to look at this. This place is grand if all you want is a clean bed for a night or two for a cheap price.

Our arrival at the hotel was Not very welcoming. The very rude blond receptionist began to argue loudly with her colleague when we were trying to check in. We were totally ignored while they squabbled. We then witnessed an argument with another guest over a key. Personal comments were made about this lady and it was all very uncomfortable. This was all in front of my three year old. The elevator didn't work so we had to carry pushchair, bags etc. upstairs. The rooms were very basic but reasonably clean. Bathroom could have down with more attention. This is a budget hotel and I am not a fussy person. However manners and a smile cost nothing. I have never come across such an unpleasant and unprofessional hotel worker. My advice - don't stay here.

This hotel isn't the Hilton, but for the price you are paying you can't expect it to be! The room was clean and tidy, warm (which was needed in December) and comfortable. My boyfriend and I spent one night in the hotel, and it was just what we needed. The hotel wasn't perfect, but was just a bed for the night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who isn't snobby enough to make little complaints about cardboard holding open corridors, for people who make the most of their weekends away. The ensuite bathroom was also clean and spacious. The hotel in very close to Finsbury Park underground station and bus station, making access to London very easy, accessible within 15 minutes. The staff were friendly and willing to help with any questions. Breakfast was very basic, but if you don't mind cereal and toast there is nothing to complain about. I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know that was going to London on a budget. After all on a trip to London, you go out and see London, you don't spend the whole day in your room.
