Booked in for 2 nights at the Mitre, Greenwich for holiday weekend with a family room.

Room was excellent, clean, spacious with 2 beds, television, fridge with stocked mini bar and sink.
The bar downstairs was excellent, had a very friendly vibe around it and the staff were very friendly and happy.

The location of the hotel is spot on with 2-3 minutes walk between Cutty Sark and Greenwich train station. Surrounding area has plenty to do with the Cutty Sark, Greenwich Market, bars, restaurants and the huge park.

We would defo stay in Greenwich again and defo in the Mitre Hotel.

5* experience.

The title says it all really. This place is located smack bang in the middle of Greenwich, a short walk from the cutty sark and DLR. I stayed here with 3 other colleagues for an exhibition at the excel recently and all of us liked it, the rooms are fairly big, reasonably decorated and reasonably priced. The pub downstairs is also a 'proper' pub and the food is pretty good too.

The biggest problem was the heat in the rooms, there were large fans in each room so its obviously a problem... in desperate need of some AC as the heat is unbearable, especially if you are trying to get ready into suits etc.

Other than that it was good though.

I chose this pub/hotel because of it's location and convenience of getting to and from the Excel, within walking distance from the DLR and a few reasonable restaurants close by. The Mitre was clean and comfortable, but for £129.00 per night with no cooked breakfast available, I think was a little overpriced.
A continental breakfast was offered but I believe that most guests that are staying on business would have preferred a full English breakfast.
The pub was of typical 'London Pub' appearance but looked a bit dingy and scruffy, but cheap beer at happy hour made up for that.
Would I stay there again? - yeh probably

Stayed one night when attending a concert at the O2. The room (#102) was very spacious and well appointed with a modern & clean bathroom. Robes & slippers are provided which is a nice touch in a hotel like this.
Room 102 looks out onto the main road so there is of course traffic noise even late/early, especially when windows are open (no air con in hotel).
Both hotel reception and bar staff were friendly, efficient and helpful and the whole place has a nice atmosphere.

Greenwich is a nice area with plenty of bars & restaurants to choose from (and loads of history too of course!)
Location is very convenient to the O2, the bar staff told us to catch the 188 bus rather than DLR/Tube and it worked perfectly (runs 24hrs). Buses every 10 or so mins from just round the corner and the journey takes about 15 min. Return journey even easier, 20,000 people leaving the venue and hardly an of them using the buses!!

Room Tip: Pick your room carefully, some are very small apparently

I must say, when I heard we were staying in Greenwich for the night between that separated our two days in London; I was dismayed...wrongly.

We stumbled into the pub that is partnered with the hotel and were taken into a small check-in area and, after the formalities were dealt with, were showed to our room. Room No. 102 was huge, spacious, with high ceilings and lots of natural light. Folded cotton towels were left on our beds (one double and a double sofa bed); there was an equipped kitchenette (which are normally infer some form of horrible continentality - but this was not the case); a thoroughly modern bathroom with power shower and a separate toilet.

Despite some of the newer fittings, the room clung in subtle ways to its 200 year old past; the windows were a good 9ft high and were skirted on the outside with healthy, colourful floral arrangements. One aesthetic criticism must be, however, that some of the features did clash. The tastefully old and new features of the room complemented each other like vanilla ice cream to hot banoffee pie, yet the addition of panelled ceilings and Ikea wardrobe space was somewhat disappointing.

This being said, the hotel management seemed to leave nothing out. A hair-dryer, toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, mini-fridge with milk and a bureau upon which were placed tea making facilities are but some of the compliments paid to the residents. The importance of the toaster and cutlery were made apparent to us when our continental breakfast was brought to us the next morning. What a shame, I thought, that we were only there for one very pleasing evening.

Room Tip: The rooms built for 3 seem to be much bigger (on the blueprint). We stayed in room 201.

Unfortunately we stayed in this hotel for three days. We had booked and payed the room in June and stayed three nights in September 2013. We realized that we had payed 65% more than the corporate rate which was displayed at the hotel, I think that that is out of proportion. Not only that but the room we got was the tiniest I have ever experienced in a hotel, I guess it was only 10 square meters with one queen bed and one chair. Since I am a "big" man of 6 foot and a wheigt of 230 pounds travelling with my wife and 4 pieces of luggage we had a very hard time, could hardly come into the room and to move around the bed was nearly impossible. I tried to get a bigger room the first day but the only answer we got was: "We are fully booked" and there was no help.
On the other hand, the property was very well located and there were lots of restaurants nearby, as well as the interesting ship Cutty Sark and the old naval education centre. It was also expedient to travel to London City. A shame that we got such a bad room for so much money when we ordered so well in advance.

Room Tip: Be sure that you get a room with a size that you can accept.

Dear Guest,
As you booked with us in advance online and not directly through us our online representatives had the final decision on what room to place you in.
When you make your reservation online there are options that clearly state what specific types of rooms we have here at our hotel. As you chose our standard room you were automatically placed in that type of room.
At the time of your stay was a busy period for us and in other circumstances we would have been happy to move you into one of our more spacious rooms straight away.

We deeply apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you during your visit here but are disappointed that you did not come to us first before resorting to tripadvisor.

We hope one day your views can change on our hotel if you were to choose one of our executive rooms next time
Kind Regards

Booked in to the Mitre for first holiday with a new BF as a long weekend in London. Couldn't praise it enough! Greenwich is a lovely area of London (from a London-phobe) and the Mitre is everything that made good old London pubs great. Beautiful clean rooms, great location, excellent Sunday lunch.... We were sat by the fire on a particularly English November Sunday... And happily stayed there all day! Have already recommended to all my family and even this little country bunny wants to come back!
