My first time at The Queens Head and Artichoke and what a superb experience. Busy and lively bar on the main ground floor. We had dinner in the dining room on the first floor - excellent food and reasonably priced bottle of white Cotes du Rhone that we finnished off in their charming beer garden that is secretly secluded at the back of the bar. Thoroughly enjoyable experience all round. Highly recommend a visit and we will certainly be back.

I went to the queen's head and artichoke the other day with my girfliend and it was very nice. Food was good and srevice even better. we sat outside and had a few tapas to start: very good mozzarella and outstanding manchego cheese spring roll, after that i ordered a rib eye steak with peppercorn sauce and served with delicious potato & leek gratin, my girlfriend had fish but i couldn't bother asking how was it because i was too concentreted on my big juicy steak.
to end up we had a faboulus chocolate cake.
Over all it was a very good value for money, also the wine list was very well assorted.
i strongly reccommend this gastro pub

Ate here on Wednesday 28th July. Was a very nice meal up to the desert. We were served a generous size pavlova and my wife proceeded to work her way through it. Imagine her suprise to find the inside of said pavlova was crawling with ants! No real apology from the manager (never happenned before gov) - he was too busy trying to buy us off with offers of taking the deserts off the bill.

Ate here on a Tuesday night. It was lively and accommodating, with pleasant, efficient service. Menu is tapas based, with a good variety. Not sure we made the best choice, but the food was fresh and tasty. Beer was v. good (Tim Taylors). Would very happily come back if I was in the area.

We were disappointed by our selection of tapas as they were mostly served cold - not nice for spinach & mushrooms. Also the bread 'selection' was just 2 types with the brown, nutty bread too dry. The oysters were absolutely lush, let down by a very acrid shallot vinegar, as if the shallots had bled in to the vinegar from sitting around too long. Wine was enjoyable & reasonably priced, as was the Iberico ham & manchego cheese. In hindsight, we could have asked which tapas were hot & cold, but if the bill shows them by this split why doesn't the menu? We will give them a 2nd chance & try some of the mains next time.
