Description: "A lively, buzzy, stylish eatery and meeting place in an exciting part of town. The Light is a newcomer on the Shoreditch scene which is attracting lots of positive attention. The funky decor and French/Mediterranean menu, attract a young, vivacious crowd, including city folk, media and design types. Lunch is busy, evenings romantic, and you won't have to shout your sweet nothings over the pulsing background music, because there isn't any. Aaah, start with a half-dozen oysters served with shallot vinaigrette, pickled lemon and chilli salsa, either with a pint of Guinness or a glass of champagne. Main favourites include oxtail in crepinette, with celeriac puree, roast shallots and root veg. Blistering wine list. "

Went to friends engagement party. Was at the bar when the batman knocked over the beer I had just bought. Initially he denied it, but when the two strangers either side of me intervened he admitted it,but became aggressive, shouting about a busy service and he didn't have time to deal with it. Eventually after asking for his manager he said 'come to the end of the bar' where I was escorted into a back room, the curtains were closed, and the barman proceeded to shout at me,flanked by two burly bouncers for 10minutes. At one point when i asked for the manager, the response was 'shut up,you dont speak' Eventually the manager arrived, apologised and sorted the situation out. But the whole scenario was unpleasant and intimidating. The bar was average overall, but treating customers so rudely does not reflect well!

We had a great night at this venue. The meal was delicious and beautifully presented. So many exciting dishes on the menu it was hard to choose. The lamb that we chose was beautifully tender and the accompaniments made it really interesting. The service was friendly and efficient and the price was very reasonable for the class of the cuisine. The bar on the floor above had a dance floor with some good dance music played by the djs. There was access to the open air roof terrace which gave a good chill out space and a great view of the East London skyline. An excellent night out.

We tried the Light Bar for the first time and enjoyed it very much.

The bar has a warm relaxed and friendly atmosphere with good background music to enjoy a drink and chat before dinner.

The meal was fantastic and a bargain at £12.50 for two courses. The forest mushroom and shallot soup was sublime and the pork loin delicious!

Light Bar is a must if you're in Liverpool Street.

We visited the The Light Restaurant for the 2nd time.
It was a surprise dinner for a friend .

The food and service were of the same high standard as our last visit. The king oyster mushroom for a starter was a real treat, as was the herb crusted Scottish salmon.

The beef and lamb mains were cooked to perfection and those of us who had the gurnard were not disappointed, desserts to die for (hot chocolate bourbon fondant with banana and baileys ripple ice cream....). Service, again, excellent, very helpful and efficient.

If you planning to have a drink after dinner there's a choice of big, busy bar next door, garden and lounge bar with roof terrace and dj.....perfect place, especially for weekends.
