It's a great old pub and is always busy when I have visited which of course is why it's so difficult to get served. The bar is cramped and creates huge pinch points as people move from one section through to the larger area at the rear of the pub.Service is sparodic and frustrating and the staff just don't seem to be bothered. In this area I will always choose the Wheatsheaf, particularly since refurbishment and the Borough for service and friendliness.

We hadn't booked but staff were very helpful and accommodating - good food freshly cooked and would recommend a visit to this historic pub.

Uniquely, a pub owned by the National Trust. A great view of the Shard from the courtyard, service a bit sporadic but it's the architecture that draws the crowds. A nice mixture of Euro-tourists and office workers. If you like pubs, you will probably like The George.

Very cosy, with traditional interior and a lovely atmosphere.

There wasn't too much choice on the menu. On top of that, some dishes weren't even available. That was a big downside.

On the other hand, what we got was good. It was not excellent, but decent. And there was enough, more than enough!

I thought it was a little too expensive for what it was. But the atmosphere made up for it, quiet and cosy.

A bit of a distance in the beginning, but warming up in due course, the service was becoming more pleasant. International clientele, unfortunately no open fire where we were, it would have created a little extra.
