Description: If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent Garden's multi award-winning Clos Maggiore. Echoing the charming country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly muted decor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind. The skylight is surrounded with twining, flower-starred branches to resemble an Italianate courtyard, a delightful faux-rural treat in the city centre. Seasonally inspired classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore restaurant, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. The range of menus include a six-course "tasting menu" featuring such dishes as "Seared Wild Scallops, Ratte Potato & Winter Truffle" and "Pan Roasted Fillet of Cornish Cod, Olive Oil & Basil Pomme Puree". In addition Clos Maggiore serves a reasonably priced, regularly changing set lunch and pre-theatre menus. To find the perfect complement Clos Maggiore's extensive cellar includes over 2500 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low - mid price range. They have recently been awarded the "The Grand Wine Award 2014" by the Wine Spectator - one of only 70 restaurants worldwide to receive this accolade. Clos Maggiore has been voted in the "Top Ten" categories for "Best French Restaurants", "Best Ambiance" and "Special Occasion Restaurants" by opentable. Toptable lists Clos Maggiore as one of the most highly rated dining venues in London and Square Meal lists Clos Maggiore as one of the best restaurants with Private Rooms.

“Great food great service ”

It's taken me a while to write a review about this place but that's not because it wasn't good. My husband and I came here on a weekend getaway and it was a fantastic dinner. Although we did not get to sit in the solarium it was quiet enough that we could head each other . The food was incredible and the service was attentive and not overbearing

“A surprising little nest in the heart of London”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Just steps away from the touristy crowd of Covent Garden, Clos Maggiore offers quite a unique, cozy and warm atmosphere, superlative quality of food and the feeling that you are probably more in a French/Italian restaurant than in metropolitan London. Definitely a great spot to try!

“Excellent as ever ”

When you dine at a restaurant occasionally it is easy to forget to sing it's praises. As ever food and service were excellent and great value on the pre-theatre menu.

“Not enough great things to say”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2014

We dined here for my birthday in March 2013 and it still has a lasting impression - I can not recommend the restaurant enough for an overall great meal with a romantic setting and attentive service. The wine is exceptional and the food is as tasty as some Michelin starred restaurants, on top of this the setting is as romantic as you can get in the garden room. For a special birthday or anniversary meal, I would definitely recommend booking the garden room and sharing the chateaubriand!

“Amazing but only if you are seated in the main area”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2014 via mobile

I have only given it three stars as I'm hoping that people will read this review.
I can't really award it more or less stars as I left within 10 minutes of arriving. The reason for this being that to experience this place you need to be seated in the main restaurant. The decor and atmosphere look and feel amazing however there are 7 or do tables that are not in this area and if you have the misfortune of being seated one of these tables as we were, you will truly be disappointed. To be honest the manager was lovely and accepted that we were unhappy and did not make a fuss in the slightest when we decided to leave as one would expect. It's not what I expected having booked a month in advance.
My advice to anyone booking a table would be that if they can't guarantee a table in the main restaurant over the phone then its best to have a backup plan as otherwise you will be sorely disappointed as we were before finding somewhere else.

I hope to come back and experience the main restaurant as it does look truly amazing.

Apologies for the three stars, it's only three to have this message read. I have no doubt its worth the full five stars had I dined there.
